I’m seriously thinking of buying one, 07-09ish model year, under 130,000kms, 1.9jtd, manual, wagon. Looking at common problem areas, reliability, etc. Any oppos have it know someone who has one of these fine automobiles?
Pics for your time:

I’m assuming you are in Europe

I have the same 1.9jtd, but not a 159. Engine with regular servicing has had no issues for entire 40k. I quite literally have nothing else to report. It is good.

That’s good to hear, thanks.

My dad once considered getting one and got as far as a few test drives. Overall pretty nice cars to drive and be in plus it’s an Alfa, but hardly practical so he ended up buying another Volvo. Reliability wise, ALFA. Lots of preventative maintenance will be king. I believe the JTDs are fairly trouble free though.

If you treat it well it won’t let you down, interior build quality is a bit meh.

I knew someone who had one from new for a couple years. Never had any serious mechanical issues, but it was in and out the dealer for quality issues, electrical faults etc. He ended up getting a bit tired of it and buying a Golf. It looks like he just got a bad one though.

They have a really nice looking black and tan interior, all the other ones I’ve seen were nothing to write home about

Electrical faults eh? What kind?

From what I can recall they weren’t severe, it never left him stranded or anything. Flickering gauge lighting, slow electric windows, intermittent alarm. Nothing serious and shouldn’t affect all of them. Had a few trim pieces break on the interior but again nothing serious.

I love the way these cars look. From what I understand they’re much improved over the 156 reliability-wise, and I daily drove a 2.5l V6 one of those for 4 years and the only thing that went wrong was the bosch-designed MAF sensor.
My dad still daily drives a 2.4JTD 156 Sportwagon. That’s had an issue with the crank position sensor but that was an easy replacement. It’s also had a problem with the turbo but that was due to poorly reconditioned parts...
Other than that, utterly solid :)
