Finished the final bit of welding for it to be structurally sound :) that’s both front wings, both rear cills, one cill halfway up and two holes in the boot. It’ll be going for MOT next week hopefully then I’ll take it out on the open road :) pictures of the last repair:

Great job! What model is it? Bx 16?

Thanks :) it’s a BX19 TXD so 1.9l non-turbo diesel. Not exactly quick, but it’ll be really cheap to run (I can even run it on vegetable oil if I want) and still funky :)

Exactly, the XUD9 engine is very reliable and cheap to run. As a proof, it’s a popular engine in North Africa where old Peugeot and Citroën end their lives.

Now that you’ve worked on a BX, do you have any advice for someone looking to buy one? I’m looking at a diesel one to ship to 505turbeaux. I have driven BXs before.

Well that one certainly looks like a nicer one than mine :)

Only really where to look to look for rust. Front wheelarches, leading and trailing edges of the cills, back of the boot floor and under where the LHM tank is.

Mine’s also a bit juddery lifting up at the front, but you’d probably know to check for that. Can be fixed by flushing and lubricating the strut with LHM by hooking up a couple of pipes to a bottle of the stuff. Still need to do that actually.

Beyond that I haven’t had much cause to work on it. Everything’s been functioning fine :)
