When we bought a new house at the end of last summer I knew I was getting a much bigger lawn. I knew I could at least stick it out with my old hand me down push mower (1982 Craftsman 20 inch 3.5 HP which my Dad bought new for his first house).
By 2 cuts in this Spring I was spent. Seriously. 2.5 hours of push mowing is a lot of time I can’t get back in my life.
Overheads of house 1 property vs house 2 property:
as you can see property 1 was much smaller. Took about 45 minutes, 30 if I hauled ass with the heavy old mower.
I realize Property 2 may not LOOK like a lot but I have some pictures below the overhead that may help.
MontegoMan! Talk about the damn mower already! We get it, you needed a bigger mower!
OK!
1996
1999 Craftsman with a 17 HP Briggs & Stratton engine, 42” cutting deck and triple bagger/cans.
(just re-read the serial number and found out it’s actually a 1999)
Oh and it has a cool push bar on it.
(Old push mower back on the right, you can see it’s bagger up against the Montego)
I suppose this is the closest thing to a “full fleet picture” I have. The Jeep, Milan, Montego, and Craftsman in 1 shot.

I have the Echo 58V mower for my yard, little electric motor hauls ass!

How much did it cost?

I can't tell you. I might burst into tears if I do.

Hahahahahahaha
Well, with my push mower I had to stop and empty the bag at least 5 or 6 times depending on grass length. That should be alleviated quite a bit.
Also my rider was $600 bucks off craigslist plus $20 for a home depot rental F250 with bedramps to get it home.
(Oh, and added bonus I didn’t die buying it off craigslist)

My mower cost me 500 clams brand new.. BUT, it never gets clogged up, it hasn’t missed 1 piece of grass, it’s super lightweight and its actually really quiet compared to a gas mower.
Also, it doesn’t have any extra costs to run it. It’s on the electric bill I have to pay every month anyway and it only takes an hour to charge so really isn’t that much of an impact on energy used.

Well, I’m not saying the old mower got clogged, the bag was just full to the brim.
I run all the time anyhow, it’ll be nice to sit on my ass while the work gets done hahaha.

I don’t use the bag on mine, I just let it blow out the side cuz I'm too lazy to change the bag.

hahaha.
Well you clearly don’t have a dog and a 2.5 year old that would track all that crap back into your house like I do.
I also can’t stand the grass clipping blobs all over. That’s just me, I know plenty of people that just let it fly. I actually hear if it’s cut fine enough it’s great for the lawn.

I have a dog it’s just the lazy asshole likes to stay in the house all day, I’ve nicknamed him “kitty” because of how much he lays around and sleeps. The wife will go out and rake all the grass clippings up when she does her gardens anyway so it’s a win/win situation for me :]

We have a little red self propelled Toro. IT GETS WHEEL SPIN! its a pretty cool little mower. I’ve never had a self propelled one before, but they are tits.

Let’s be honest here.
If you had an option to sit on your ass while mowing the lawn- you’d take it.

hahaha
you must have a small lawn, it would take me HOURS AND HOURS to rake the whole thing. Had to buy a leaf blower last fall too.

Though I’d also like to think you probably would have found one with more horsepower haha.

always had rider mowers so i dont know what this peasant push mower you talk about is

My yard is pretty small, not cramped but certainly not big. Doesn’t even take a half hour to cut front and back. As for raking, my yard has no trees surrounding it except for the big one in front of my neighbours house that only makes a mess of the sidewalk and driveway.

Definitely a thing for peasants and underlings.

How’s the range on it? I would have loved to have bought an electric mower, but was suspicious that it would be able to do a half acre on one charge. Ethanol gasoline really sucks for small engines, especially if it sits for awhile.

The mower is only rated at 40min of run time but that’s because the battery is pretty small. It’s purposely made small though because you can attach the battery to any of Echo’s outdoor power equipment (trimmers, mower, leaf blower). I haven’t had any problem with range yet but my yard isn’t that big. Also, the mower is capable of holding an additional battery (sold separately) so if one dies you can run the other one and it only takes an hour for a full charge.

That would probably just about do it for me. I have a 125cc Bolens, and it takes just about an hour or so. Might have to look at an electric, if/when the time comes to replace.

If you stick to a schedule of 1 to 1.5 weeks you’re fine just using the side discharge. If you’re lazy like me keep the bagger on.

It works a lot better than the Craftsman mower I had before it. 100% power at all time, doesn’t get bogged down in thick grass the way some gas mowers do, overall it just does its job the way you want it to. A bit expensive but I find it was worth it, has a composite deck as well.

Haha, the bagger was a big purchasing point for me. I like to keep it bagged.
