Formula Drift has gotten a lot crazier lately

Doesn’t he realize that just ruined his drift chain bonus? Now he’s gotta start back from the bottom.

I can’t help but always imagine how easy it is to drive an F1 car when you are barely pushing its limits, and at like, 1/10s of effort you are still faster than most anything else on a track.

Well, that would be expensive.
Nice bald spot on that front left as he makes that last roll to the stop.

At a slow pace, and F1 car is actually really hard to control.

Interesting - that looks really odd, like maybe a tire is doing down, or maybe high centered on the green curb or something? Agree - nice flat spot, write off that set.

Which session or which q did this happen? I missed qualifying.
That looks very odd, it never came to a spin but also didnt correct itself.

That was at Interlagos last year, he can’t have had more than a couple dozen laps in an F1 car at that point. Holy shit this kid is good.

Definition of flat-spotted tire. Nice way to blow $2k.

Did... did you not see the Top Gear episode where Hammond tried driving an F1 car and he kept stalling it and spinning it because he was driving it too gently?

THIS.
Similar to high performance aircraft (something I have experience with) you can’t just “slow down and let your brain catch up” because it will kill you.
You train on lower performance rides until your brain is several minutes/miles ahead of the vehicle. If you’re ever thinking “make it slow down” you’ve already lost.
I was thinking about this lately in context of someone handing me the keys to a high performance car. I’d probably turn the offer down.
I know aircraft, and I know some models of performance ground vehicles. I am in no way qualified to drive a formula-anything car.
Mark of a true pro: knowing your limits.
