I decided to read today’s paper, National Post to be exact. I’m reading through the auto section and get to a review of the 2015 Chrysler 300C Platinum. Pretty well written article, author seems to be very unbiased which is good. Then I get to the interior section and I’ve now realized that people will find anything to nitpick. This guy’s issue is with the infotainment screen.

This is his direct quote: “so the dashboard’s Uconnect screen could be bigger and closer to the driver for easier manipulation.”

Either this guy DDs a Tesla or he’s just an idiot because I can’t think of any single time I’ve looked at that 8.4” screen and thought to myself “this should be bigger.”

I find that journalists are a picky bunch. They don’t make as much money as joe everyman, but they usually have access to items way out of their pay scale. Often I think that they take features and ideas from more expensive cars and use those to degrade cars that aren’t in the same class. It’s like how some will say that an Optima’s interior is nice, but there’s plastic everywhere. No sh**. There’s plastics in 100k BMWs, but it’s only a problem when you see it in a mid 20k sedan. Because the consumer is totally cross shopping them.

I am sick of giant screens in vehicles. I tried to find a 2008-2011 base model Nissan Versa without the optional radio, unfortunately couldn’t find one. That would be so peaceful.

Even worse, giant screen just stuck to the dash. It looks as good as having an iPad mini with a dollar tree vent clip phone holder.

I really don't care for a screen either. I much prefer the basic radio in my truck to the touchscreen in my car.

I’ve noticed that to, more so in recent years it seems and it’s always about stupid things to. For example, they’ll complain that the leather isn’t soft enough in a cheaper car but have no issue with an expensive car like BMW/Mercedes that comes standard with leatherette (which is basically just premium vinyl).

I think that hits the nail on the head. I do appreciate it when say a review complains of the Mustangs interior then compares it to a brz, he'll even a g35 coupe. Because those are actual comparable values in price and availability.

The biggest problem with screens is how it requires your eyes to do something.

It’s totally fair when they compare things like that. My issue is when they complain about stupid little things like how a Mercedes has it’s own perfume but a Camry doesn’t, that what really frustrates me.
