I’ve spent a lot of time now with Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, Chrysler, Aston Martin, and Mazda infotainment systems, but today I finally got to use Audi’s MMI. I’ve always read it’s so intuitive and easy to use, but honestly, I thought it was trash. Well no, Aston Martin’s infotainment was trash. MMI was seriously below expectations. It felt incredibly clunky and un-intuitive, from the backwards rotation to the buttons that change what they to and the touchpad that is slow to use.
The whole interior seemed kind of goofy, especially the start button being on the passenger side of the shifter. Like what are they thinking?
After using all those systems, my rankings would be:
Mercedes NTG 5
Chrysler uConnect
BMW iDrive
Mazda whatever the call it
Audi MMI
Lexus touchpad mouse thing
.....
1000. Getting hit by a car
1001. Aston Martin’s system (seriously, what the heck)

It’s not too bad! Anybody can figure it out easily, and it carries out regular functions fine. Lots better than Cue though, that shit is laggy as hell.

Garmin will always add class to any interior.

Cue I’ve yet to use. MMI isn’t horrible, just not great. Google earth is awesome

MMI isn't great. The Germans, for all their technological prowess, suck at automotive infotainment systems, including BMW, VAG, and Mercedes-Benz.
For all the grief it gets, Ford's Sync/MyFordTouch is remarkably intuitive. Sometimes laggy and buggy, but compared to MyLink, CUE, MMI, COMAND, and others, it's essentially flawless.
Mazda, Kia/Hyundai, Nissan/Infiniti, MFT/MLT, and uConnect are pretty good, and it's a shame there isn't a universal OS that combines all of them on any vehicle, or, even better, a mirroring of one's smartphone.

I had a 3-series with 2nd gen iDrive, and I loved it. People continued to hate because of experience with the first gen, but it was really a marvelous bit of tech. The MMI in my next car was kind of disappointing, although honestly once you get used to the rotation (which does make sense) you don’t even notice it.
Now I’ve got a Focus ST1 which basically has nothing, and I kind of prefer that.

Cue is worse than getting run over by a bus. It's like living in slow motion.

Not to mention the screen was freaking pink. Pink!

Cue really isn’t that bad man! Just the touch “buttons” are what make it so shit. The system in my Jetta is slow as fuck so I’m not one to talk though.

I agree with your list for the most part but I would switch uConnect and Mercedes system. uConnect is easily the most simple and user-friendly yet quickest system out there.

I’ve tried it on an XTS and it was paintully slow, haha. Those touch buttons make my hands feel really strange, it’s like a pulsation.

It’s notably better than when it first came out but I agree it’s still not very fast. I just don’t understand why it’s so slow when it uses the same software as VAG, Mercedes, FCA and now Ford with Sync-3.
I love GM but this is another one of their typical fuck ups. They’ve been trying so hard the last few years but they still have a ways to go. If they really got serious and stopped cutting corners, being shady, etc. they could be the biggest automaker in the world.

Same, I think it’s all the “fancy” animations that they use. For instance, the startup one is probably too fancy for what it is.
They aren’t there yet, but they are well on their way of turning themselves around.

Well they do have it pretty jam packed with things that don’t necessarily need to be there. Things such as the proximity sensor that makes the icons light up when you raise your hand. As cool as it is, we don’t need it, just leave the “buttons” illuminated all the time. Also, people hate the touch buttons for CUE, just add real ones and it will solve a lot of problems.
Chrysler took the most simple approach to their infotainment system and it’s one of the top systems if not the best. I personally think it’s the most intuitive available today.

Agreed, I think that was the goal of Audi. But they didn’t quite hit the nail on the head, possibly making it more simple than it needed to be. Love Audi interiors much more than any other luxury car manufacturer, but they really need to step it up as far as the MMI system goes.

VAG as a whole needs to step it up in the infotainment section. The system in my Jetta is quite frustrating and I often feel the urge to put my fist through the screen. It’s not nearly as bad as MFT that’s in my wife’s Focus though. But in all honesty my Yukon is so much nicer to use. There's no navigation, no Bluetooth and no touchscreen. Also, the integrated phone system through OnStar works wonders, you say “Dial” and within 2 seconds it responds with “Number please.”
