I went to the FP to see if there was any discussion about the small plane that crashed on I285 at Peachtree Industrial and found it was a Gawker article. The comments are what you would expect. RIP to the folks involved. Today would have been a great day to go flying. Looks like the pilot did what he could after suffering an engine issue.

Did it say a type? I started to look, but then got sidetracked.

Piper PA-32. Something like this.

Saw that on the news as soon as the story came out. A trucker who was hit said that it looked like he was attempting an emergency landing, but he suddenly dropped into the median.
The article you linked to said no vehicles were hit, but the plane clipped the trucker’s 18-wheeler before crashing and a piece of debris shattered an oncoming vehicle’s windshield. Neither driver was hurt, but there were definitely two non-flying vehicles involved.

You hate to see that. Also, friends don’t let friends read Gawker.

Yeah, looks like the pilot was making a good effort of it.
