Man....that is REALLY bad. Is the car really worth saving? Is it a rare model?

It is pretty rare around these parts, the engine runs strong and most of it is fine, it just has a very rusty floor section. It’s one of my favourite cars ever so I’m gonna do my best to preserve it.

ouch. I thought my “ooh, that doesn’t look good” moment earlier was bad but compared to this its nothing, you’ve really got your work cut out there. Still, looks like it’ll be a lovely car once done.

I might buy a 1974 BMW 2002 in the very near future that has a fisr amount of surface rust, and I’m having nightmares like that being under the carpet.

Love the BMW 2002, luckily German steel is a lot thicker and not made from old recycled metal like Japanese cars are, so it shouldn’t be as bad.

I know that feeling.

Jeez mate, is that in your truck? I think yours is actually worse than mine.

where’s the problem? it’s just ventilation for your feet

If all the information is to be believed, it is a one owner car from Michigan that was a CCA member. He ordered it as a, “drivers special,” because it doesn’t have a radio or air conditioning...which will be a problem because I’m in North Carolina (famous for being hot) and I’m a music enthusiast.
But I don’t care, it’s too cool not to love.

I guess I should add a picture...

Sounds pretty good man, I’m a mega music fan too, and honestly the radios and speakers in old cars are garbage anyway. The radio was one of the first things to come out of the Datsun, the exhaust note will be enough.

If I get it, I will put actual speakers in there, and one of those cool classic looking Retrosound decks that Cruchfield sells. I NEED MY TUNES, GENUINEALEXREID, I NEED THEM

Good call for sure! In a convertible I’m not gonna be so concerned with hearing anything, haha, but I can definitely stress the importance of tunes while cruisin’. Is it injected or a dual carb? I prefer the carb’d version.

Dual upgraded Weber carbs. Much better than the original factory ones. It makes a wonderful noise. Mechanically speaking, it is in 10/10 shape, as is the interior...it’s just the exterior that needs major help.

Sounds like we’re in the same boat, even if that boat leaks.

Yep, I patched that but I have a second cab with less rust I’m swapping in as this one is rotted at the bottom, and damaged at the top from a fallen branch.

Jack, did you get this car?

Not yet. But the seller has reduced the price, and I’m still trying to aquire the funds.
