How does it compare to iRacing or Assetto Corsa?

Whats wrong with the crashes? are they not very realistic? Because that Always bothered me on Gran Turismo 5 is that the damage on the cars was never very good.

Haven’t played either enough to do a fair comparison. All I’ll say is it feels like more of a game structure wise.

If they were just bad then fair enough but they are bullshit. The AI cars must be a lot heavier since I just bounce of them where as they send me flying off the track when they hit me, which happens a lot.

AI

Mean/Crazy good, Demolition Derby, or Stupid?

Collisions

Too arcade-y, or too much “touch another car and you’re dead.”

The rest I think I can live with. Car list is passable and from what I heard they were going to try to add more as time goes on. Bugs will eventually be patched.

Any car customization options? I used to love making my own livery.

The AI is really inconsistent. Sometimes they know you exist and sometimes they don’t at which point they push you off the driving line and into a gravel trap. Same with the difficulty. I seem to be either lapping or getting left at the back.

Collisions are really bad. The AI seem to have much heavier cars since you can’t do shit to them. Any contact and you either come to a dead stop or you get bounced away. Where as they have no problem bulldozing you out of the way.

No customization.

Please don't say it's bad. I've been waiting for this game for about ever.

Overall do you think it’s worth buying? I loved Forza 4 and got frustrated with Gran Turismo (GT5 and 6 are basically the same game) for comparison.

It’s not bad by any means it just has problems like all racing games. I don’t think it deserves the 9/10s it is getting everywhere but it is a good game and by far and away the most in depth sim on consoles. That said if you are looking for a Forza/GT experience this is the wrong game, it is the game GRID should of been in my opinion.

I feel that iRacing/Assetto Corsa is 100% Sim, PCars is like 80%. It nicely bridges the gap between Forza/GT and iRacing. I quite like it.

Nothing like Forza or GT. Literally has zero in common with those games. It is the game GRID should of been in my opinion. It focuses a lot on the actual racing than the cars.

I don’t know if I can give a recommendation yet since after the second hour (the first was spent configurating EVERYTHING) I was kind of bored which isn’t a good sign but it is picking up.

GT5 and 6 are basically the same game

Whoa, whoa, WHOA. Ok, yeah that’s fair. I think GT6 is a good game on it’s own even if it feels like update #1642 to the mess that was GT5 1.0.

I was trying to pick between PC and going into iRacing, so more simulation than game, I think. PC seemed like a decent non-subscription based alternative.

You want Assetto Corsa for that from what I have heard.

Your description of collisions reminds me of NFS Pro-Street and Shift... Same developers, right?

No customization gives me a sad maybe I’ll wait till it’s on sale. I really need my racing fix, and i refuse to buy an xbone just for Forza.

Fair enough. I’ve had my eye on it for a while and was hoping it’d be good. Guna try and play it before I buy.

Yeah same guys. I got just under a 1000 hours between Forza 5 and Horizon 2 so it was worth it for me plus my Xbox One is my Media/Tv centre.

What’s wrong with the car list? It’s huge and covers a large variety, just curious.

I was one of the people in the alpha for project Cars and I also own AC.

Personally, I like Assetto Corsa better. pCARS started out promising but during the course of development it gradually became a worse game (for me at least.). It sort of lost direction. Don’t get me wrong, it still one of the better driving games out there, especially for consoles, but it just started to lack a certain feel for the driving. It’s hard to describe.

Also, trying to run this thing with graphics somewhat turned up and a full field of cars, on anything less than a brandnew very highend pc, will ruin your framerate. (mind, the last time I played it it was still under development so they may have worked on optimization since then)

How is 65 cars huge? It has variety but not depth so every event ends up being a spec series which I’m not really into.

Forza player I take it? Do you play with a wheel or controller?

All game player. Car lists is a bug bear of mine. My second post here was on how Horizon 2 had more cars in it then DriveClub, Project Cars, The Crew and Grid Autosport combined and how it should have more.

Controller. Haven’t upgraded wheels yet since I’m waiting for a good Xbox One/ PC wheel which doesn’t cost the same as a Xbox One/PC.

I’m curious, why is car list so important?

Do get yourself a wheel and set it up properly, and turn off all driving aids. When you do, take the Sauber C9 to Brands Hatch, I can’t count how many hours over the last couple years I’ve spent driving that car, it’s an animal. Turn the turbo boost all the way up and try to keep it from blowing the rears off at 7k rpm (I think? High in the rev range, anyways) while driving in a straight line.

Just looked at the car list and it is disappointing. I haven’t seen a great car list since FM2/3. Fingers crossed that T10 has listened to the complaints and FM6 has a great lineup at release.

Variety I guess. It’s rare to find a track you haven’t raced on a hundred times these days but a new car represents a new challenge. Plus like I said I’m not into spec series since they usually descend into mile long trains.

For AI races I can understand the processional part. With that said, I’ve had numerous races online in PC sims where every car has the same car parameters, and those are some of the most fun races I’ve ever had.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I’ve had many nights where our group ran the same car on track and just hotlapped for hours on end, if the cars are fun I’ll run anything to hang out with my friends.

Its not a bad game but I’m not gonna put myself out there and recommend it, plus it seems kind of broken on consoles at the moment. I spent the first few hours just getting the controller to a point where the game was playable. Plus the amount of bugs is ridiculous.
