I share my driveway with a few people, and yesterday I came home to this. Given there is zero body damage, I am thinking it just snapped off. Unless a motorcycle plowed directly into the wheel which is possible.
The tires are egregiously bald, so I am hoping my neighbour saves up for new tires and suspension equipment and doesn’t just put his old tires back on.

Maybe he slid into a curb pretty hard because of the bald tyres.

upper control arm or ball joint probably gave out. Those are notoriously neglected on that era chevy truck. Spends the money on rims and doesnt have the loot to take care of the things that keep you safe and driving straight down the road. Typical

As you said in the Porsche/bro truck post: He probably overloaded the brotruckness of the thing after accidentally driving over the median in the middle of the Wal Mart parking lot.

Could be haha. The owner is a good guy, but he was asking my about regrooving his tires the other day, I was like “NO MAN DON’T DO THAT GET NEW TIRES”

The ultimate bro-truck move. I’ve ridden in the passenger’s seat while that move has been pulled off. Ultimate show of off-road capability of a friend’s bro’d-out Wrangler back in highschool. And then driving down the road with two wheels in the grass up on the raised median, also in the Walmart parking lot. That’s the finishing move when you leave.
“Because, I mean, like, who actually takes the truck off-road, bruh? That would scratch the hell out of this sweet paint job.”

The finishing move is the wheel snapping?

Strangely enough, no. This bro-truck, being a Wrangler, had some heaving duty wheel studs and suspension bits installed by the previous owner, who actually would take it off road...

Probably went at low speed when he had it turned pretty sharply. That’s when mine went... thankfully. If it’d had lasted a mile longer, I’d have been on the interstate going 70 and that would’ve been a bad time. Note: I’d attempted to diagnose a clunking in the front end for quite a while. Ball joints seemed tight, I’d even had a reputable shop check it out and was given the okay.

Awww, he’s just sleepy.

What went then? control arm?

I’ve seen a tie rod end fail in somebody’s driveway *after* they’ve been driving, but never a ball joint.

Here we see a really rare species! It’s considered by many to be a blight on humanity and a black hole of bad taste, but it’s still a big treat when you get to see the hellaflush bro truck in the wild. I’m gonna crawl over there and check it out. The key is to gently caress the truck nutz to make sure it doesn’t get spooked and run off.

My Z has a bit of a clunking on the left side when going over bumps. What was wrong?

Upper ball joint. I really can’t explain why none of the numerous checks revealed it.

Yeah, I need an upper control arm on my ‘06 Sierra. Guess I better get on that ...
