For some strange reason I’ve been wanting to learn to TIG weld aluminum lately. This video series certainly doesn’t help that desire to go away:
I’ve looked at the prices of machines like the one in the video. They are selling for around $1000 - $1100. Not horrifically expensive, but not quite justifiable. At least not yet.

you don’t need something that expensive for welding aluminum.

The Mr. TIG videos are okay too. I want one mostly because I can do most anything with the same gas just use the right filler. I routinely have to settle for rivits in inox and aluminum, it’s a bummer.

Welding is fun. Plus, even a novice can look like a bad ass while doing it, even if the result is less than amazing.

I know there are MIG welders with spool guns that can do aluminum, but the weld quality just isn't the same.
I'm curious though - what less-expensive machines have you seen out there?
