I was just thinking recently that I haven’t seen one of the 2000s Chrysler Voyagers for ages. They used to be quite common, usually in a dark green colour for some reason. Rather like this:

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Then today I saw a new model one, don’t think I ever saw one before. It can be deduced that I live in a place that it is not a happy hunting ground for Chrysler. Or Fiat, for that matter.

I dont think they last too long up north. Farther down south they are everywhere.

Do they/did they call it the Chrysler Voyager over there? In the US the old Voyagers were badged as Plymouths, and the Chrysler vans are the Town & Country

I think they sold decently here. You still see them occasionally. Same with the Neon.

Plymouth brand wasn’t officially sold in Europe in the 2000’s these were Chryslers.

Chrysler. The other names are unknown and wouldn’t have sold.

We also had a Chrysler Neon, which sold for a few years and then vanished. In fact it seems to have vanished as soon as new sales stopped.

Do you ever see any Lancia Voyagers around? Or any Lancias for that matter? I don’t even know where they’re sold anynore.

Lancias were sold only in mainland Europe for the past twenty years or so, but I think it’s Italy only now.

I’ve seen a Fiat Freemont, I think driven by a tourist:

My secret shame is that I actually like the Dodge Journey. If I had the money, I would snag one with the Pentastar V6.

Also because Plymouth as a brand was dead by then.

Well, the last Plymouth rolled off the assembly line June 2000 it would’ve been technically possible that they were sold here this millenium.

For some reason europeans like Chryslers a lot. PT Cruisers, Voyagers and to a lesser extent Sebrings are a lot more common than other american cars.

They were more powerful than most of their competitors and offered the cheapest automatic transmissions so I guess there was some kind of market for them.

You just know that something is fucked up when non-turbo PT Cruisers and Sebrings are more powerful than the best europe had to offer. Granted the best europe offered in that price range was stuff like the Vectra and Laguna, so the bar was pretty low to begin with. Except when you remember that cars like the Mondeo and 406 existed, which were generally nicer cars than the Sebring in every way, if considerably smaller.

The unique selling point of all those cars (with the exception of the Voyager and its practicality) was that they were different. Inferior, but different. And cheap. Some people just like to drive something that’s not like what everyone else drives, which is something I can understand. A rational person would have, like you mentioned, bought a Peugeot 406 or Ford Mondeo.

Fiat never bothered offering that where I live, but I have seen a Freemont in Germany recently. It looked like it was rotting away on a lot, together with a 500L. I bet the vast majority are diesels.

My mother bought one of these brand new. Plymouth Grand Voyager Expresso trim. Dark Green with a silver pinstripe. The rare factory twin baby seat option.

Towards the end of its life it was a bit of a shit box. We went to trade it in and were offered $500 because “it made a funny noise.” My father promptly told the dealer the book value was $4,000 and that he and my neighbor have had them since new and they all sound the same. He then asked him why he was unable to notice that the windows didn’t go down, the a/c only came on when you punched a certain spot in the trunk, it overheated if you drove it for more than ten minutes and the radio went off when you hit a bump. But that funny noise man.
