I discovered that cardboard boxes are the old guys christmas gifts.

I can’t tell you enough how much I love opening them.

Because I envy your normal life, it seems envy is my sin... Become vengeance, David.

Become... wrath.

Every time I get car cleaning supplies its like christmas. Just seeing the box being delivered I get like a kid again (even though I know exactly what’s inside). Which is odd because I can’t stand christmas and all the crap that comes with it, but that brown box with the promise of car stuff to be used to make cars pretty and shiny again, I love it.

So go on then. What did you get?

This is my little lot from yesterday.

Kinja'd!!!

Glass cleaner, sealant and spray bottle, Quick Detailer, UV wash, APC, tyre and trim dressing, waffle weave microfibres, mid weight microfibres, Jaffa Clean (degreaser and dressing), coulpe of spray bottles with chemical resistant spray head and a kneeling pad.

I got just a few minor things. An interior carpet brush, some Blackfire interior cleaner, Ultima Interior Guard, some Pre Wax Cleaner, a spare spray bottle and some Optimum No Rinse.

How do you get on with ONR? (I love my snow foam lance, pressure washer and 2BM) Its something I’ve never used but gets talked about quite a bit in Europe (certainly Germany) where you can’t wash your car on the street and the U.K. when people don’t have time to get the buckets and washer out.

I wish I had a pressure washer so I could use a proper foam cannon, instead I bought this from Griot’s Garage and to be fair it actually works better than expected with the right soap.

In regards to the ONR, I actually don’t plan on washing my car with it but rather adding 1/2 oz of it to my normal car soap wash bucket to create more lubricity as well as making drying the car much faster. It’s quite versatile as you can dilute it to make an instant detailer, clay lubricant, or a full blown wash solution.

Also I meant to add just like you I know what’s inside, I know when it is going to be delivered and still I am excited to open it and read the bottle label. Just the thought of detailing my car with new products excites me lol, I feel like my hobby may be turning into an obsession!

If you want a good lubricating shampoo try Gtechniq Gwash. Only need two caps full per 15 litre bucket and its probably the most ‘lubricious’ shampoo you’ll find. Really good shampoo.

I had one of those before I got myself one of these Superspray Hose End sprayer.

Good little unit that foams slightly better.

But don’t waste your money on a Gilmour Foam Master gun.

Kinja'd!!!

Its ten times more expensive than the other (blue and white one) and not even slightly better than it.

If I may ask why you haven’t a pressure washer if you want one?

Your not the only one. If it helps. There is a forum based here in the U.K. called Detailing World with 72,000 members on from ‘weekend warriors’ to true professionals and manufacturers who are happy to help with anything from dilution ratios, best practice to what to try next.

Whoa thanks for letting me know about the red foam gun above, I usually see that one for sale. In regards to the pressure washer, I don’t have any place to store it in the house so the only place would be outdoors. Also I don’t have an outlet outside and would need to run an extension cable from inside the house for an electric powered one.

My pressure washer is just a little Karcher K2 which is only 45-50cm in height and has a foot print of 20x25cm. Bought it as a ‘re-furb’ from Karcher Outlet for £30 (new is £120) and it was brand new but no box.

Foam lances and snow cannons are all well and good but the main point is to get the product/wash media onto the vehicle to dwell/soak and soften and emulsify the dirt so you don’t have to use any effort (most swirls/damage is done in washing and drying the vehicle).

Like a doctor, first do no harm, and the least physical contact the better.

But watch your pocket because it can get out of hand.

Your collection of supplies and gear make me happy! I hope to have a collection like that soon.

Compared to quite a few detailers this is quite a small collection. I have two polishes (one is a pad dependant polish so it can be used for refining to cutting) where many have seven or eight for a specific purpose, I use a trifoam pad by hand (one side is soft foam for refining the other firm foam for more cutting action) others have up to 20 depending on purpose and type of machine from rotary to DA, paint depth gauges, gloss meters, car lifts, etc...

It can get expensive fast so you need to talk with others and ask questions or say good bye to your credit card.
