I like to name my cars. My other half doesn’t like the names my cars have had.
My 1997 Infiniti J30 was called the Skinfiniti. I was single when I first got it, and I dated a few girls during the time I had it. Hence the name.
My 1999 Taurus wagon had two names. A coworker dubbed it the Tampon mobile, because it was big, white, and rounded. My dad called it the Gigolo Wagon.
My Mazda Millenia didn’t ever really get a name.
The Cavalier was the Crapalier, the Explorer was called the Exploder, and my Cutlass didn’t get a name. The blue Durango, I liked to call Django.
My Infiniti I30, I wanted to call Buzz, or Lightyear, but no.
Our burgundy Durango, I wanted to name Ron. For Ron Burgundy, I mean, it’s the color of the vehicle, plus he advertised them. Other half hates Will Ferrell so that one got shot down, but in my head, that’s still its name.
What about yours?

My MR2 is named Charlie after Charlie Kelley from Always Sunny. He’s erratic, gets high pitched when upset, battered, will probably try to kill you, but is completely unkillable and has moments of extreme competence, which is track time.
My old Elantra Wagon was called the Shoebox since that’s what the inside was shaped like. It was also unkillable, and was impossible to run out of space in.
Those are the only two of the cars that I’ve owned that I think had a soul. The rest were just cars. Even my BRZ, while I love it, I can’t bring myself to give it a name. Names have to come naturally. By the first stop for gas after picking up Charlie, I knew that that is his name, told my brother who was following my home, and he agreed. He’s Charlie.

My Saab wagon is The Silver Moose because it’s silver and Swedish. People actually call it the Moose quite regularly, even people I hardly talk to.
My Tacoma needs a name. Now it’s just referred to as the truck or the taco but all Tacomas are tacos.
The Dart is officially Helena, after my great grandmother who bought it new but we all just call it the Dodge.

I’ve never named a car until my ‘13 Escape. I named it Mattie after a review and recommendation from our own lovely Matt Hardigree.

My Note’s name is Derp simply because it’s like the designers had brain farts throughout the process of making this car and as a result the car can’t do anything right.

Hah, my car’s always have had feminine names
1991 MR2 - Alicia
1991 4Runner - River
1993 MR2 - Jenna
I’m thinking about buying an Alfa Romeo, and will be continuing that trend with that one. I always have the car for a week or two before naming it, “Jenna” was going to be Selena, but it just didn’t fit the car. Jenna is high maintenance, very prissy, it fit well. River was the tomboy, the rough and tumble down and dirty hippy, fit great, mismatched body panels, crooked brush guard and KC daylighters that weren’t even close to being evenly installed. Alicia was my first car that got a name, it’s been too long to really remember why I even named her that.

My truck is called The Rescue Ranger, Namely on the first day I’ve officially owned the truck, I had to pull out a friends truck out of a ditch and tow another truck a couple blocks on my way home after that.
My Mr2 I named Inari from a character from a manga or something. I figured it fit since it was small, Japanese and clumsy...and by clumsy is driving on beyond bald tires on dumb 16in wheels in the middle of a thunderstorm on curvy backroads, veerying slightly to the right then a sudden jerk to the left, the back end slipping like mad on Alabama concrete, But it kept trying like hell. Never gave up.
I’m gonna have to rummage a couple pictures of both, When I bought the car and when I towed a GMC 1500 SAS chevy.

Current 1981 Celica - Aces
There are numbers stamped on the core support that don’t match anything else on the car (same on a lot of the Celica’s I’ve seen as well).
“01111”
So I called it Aces.
First 1981 Celica - Grimace
Previous owner left an OG McDonald’s Grimace ornament on the HVAC knob, so I named it Grimace. I also painted the motor purple to continue the theme.

I refer to my car as the ProCivic because it is in no way competent or competative. It can be heard from 100’ s of feet away. The autobox futhers the irony. Half assed power steering loop: Pro
245000 miles and 5 owners: Pro

I don’t name my cars. My partner named his Juke “Shirley” after Shirley Bassey, because of “Goldfinger” (his Juke is ‘Atomic Gold’). “He loves only GOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLD!”

I name my cars, though usually I find myself talking to them with an accidental chosen name much like you would with a horse. So that is what they end up with.
My 1988 Toyota 4Runner somehow got named Iris as she was old, worn out but always started and got me home. The truck almost always seemed happy to see me. My grandfather had Iris, my dad and then I got it. I was sad when I sold her to get my Audi. But I had moved to Florida and Iris lacked A/C. Getting the A/C fixed would’ve been more than the car was worth.
My 2001 Audi S4 became known as Buddy. I would walk up to the car and go, “Alright, Buddy we are outta here...” Thus, he was Buddy from there on out. He was my first new era car that had A/C. It was still used, but it was comfortable, fast and had A/C. I did alot of work on Buddy and then he had 2 $3000 repairs in a row. It was time for him to go and a new car to take its place. I was upset when the dealership didn’t care about taking care of him like I did.
I got my first new car in my life in my 30s. A E92 BMW M3. I’ve shuffled in names between Quad and Smoke. He is a gunmetal gray color and has a 4 barrel exhaust.

My XJ is named Leaky for obvious reasons.
My Fusion is Harrison, the Ford. (She’s actually (and yes, Harrison’s a she; Leaky is a boy Jeep, though) named after the AI in Captain Marvel’s spaceship, because I’m a huge nerd, but once I realized the pun, I couldn’t
not
name her that.)

My 2nd-gen Prius is The Silver Slug, on account of its shape, color, and performance characteristics.
My E36 doesn’t have a name. It’s just “my car” since nothing has stuck.

I just normally name them after their chassis codes?
My old ST141 was pretty cool.
Then I had the U12 Corsair (always had to type corsair when googling parts otherwise I just got U12 sports teams)
Then the green SW20R
and now a black SW20
I’m sort of boring.
I named by brothers blue Peugeot 306 GTI-6 “Myron” because it’s French and had a million things to fix on it when he got it.
