From 1948 to 1956 Lincoln wasn’t making Continentals, so by 1955 their automotive naming dibs had worn off (kidding, they took them right back the next year). The !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! was Porsche’s unabashed steez-suckling off of Lincoln’s classiness. The Continental was a 1-year production run of the 356 which had already been around for years, but had lacked the cool non-numerical moniker, “Continental.”

It looks like a what a Beetle convertible looks like when you have beer goggles on, but it’s not, it’s the totally hoonable version of itself even when you wake up the following morning.
It even came in a hardtop version so it could really look just like a Beetle with a little extra metal around the front fenders:
It’s got a downright serviceable engine... for a Porsche:

I’ll take the Continental, every day. I’ve never liked any of the 356s.

I’ve always loved 356’s since playing Porsche Unleased. So I would take the Porsche.
