Saw a lot of youngsters out in their dresses and tuxedos this weekend and I thought I’d ask: What car did you drive to prom? Did you borrow something special, take your own awesome vehicle, drive your regular beater?

Bonus points for photographic evidence.

I borrowed my cousin’s ‘98 Gran Prix GT, which I thought was pretty cool at the time (2001 and 2002). Unfortunately, those were the days before digital cameras were everywhere so I don’t have any pics handy. Not that you want to see my ugly mug in front of a cheap, plastic-fantastic Pontiac (which ended up self-immolating a few years later).

I drove my parents’ Caprice Classic (1983, I think). Prom was beat, so after hitting the dance my date and I came home to change clothes then went to the beach. At that point, I swapped the Caprice for a 1982 Rabbit.

My mom told me to take her fairly new at the time 11' Ford Escape because she didn’t want me taking my date in the familys beater Malibu i normally drove.

91 Prelude with no AC, straight pipes, and blacked out non-functional windows. It was my DD. I sweated a lot in a wool suit and I don't think my date was too comfy either haha. I did have awesome tunes playing through a discman with a cassette adapter.

It was 1996 and I drove a 1973 Mustang Convertible almost identical to this one:

From North Carolina to Pennsylvania to go to prom with a friend of mine. She had dyed pink hair and a little black dress. I was uncomfortable in a tuxedo with bow tie and vest. We had a good time, smoked a little marijuana and went to a diner after.

Got a limo, power steering failed on the way. The met us with a 20 person super stretch for just my date and I to compensate for sending a 20 year old limo to the first time around!

I didn’t go to prom. My date’s dad pulled the plug right before I ordered a tux. Also, I still couldn’t legally drive.

My mom’s 2000 Expedition EB. i went along while my girlfriend at the time took some 22 year old dude. I was there for about 15 minutes, found another loser friend of mine sitting alone, went to his place to play video games and to the go-kart track.

My junior year I drove my stepdad’s ‘84 300ZX (non-turbo automatic with no t-tops), and senior year I drove my Chevy Celebrity so another couple could come with us.

Plus, HK’s too small for anybody to arrive in a convoy of vehicles - the hotel in which we booked the event only gave us two free parking spaces anyway. :CCCC

I took my mom’s 2004 all black Z71 package Suburban for me and 5 others. Was a terrific call as we rolled up in style (she kept it immaculately clean).

I ended up taking my Mom’s loaded Jeep Grand Cherokee. That thing rode so well and my God...the torque!

she was a constant cheater. But at that time, i was that dumb and always took her back. She found some random reason to be mad at me just so her plan to take this guy could be justified. She was a nice looking girl and I was a total loser and soft as hell. Recipe for disaster always.

indeed. I am still a bit of a loser (absolutely opposite of tall, dark, and handsome lol) and my wife is a freaking model! Literally, she has done a lot of runway work and photo shoots for stores in Mexico DF. I get the typical random dude hitting on her situation quite commonly, but she is extra triple in love with me and it is really crazy awesome lol :] Long live dorks!

My high school girlfriend’s dad had a 1967 Mustang GTA that he could never get to run right. I gave it a little more timing, leaned out the carb a bit and she ran as smooth as butter. He let me take his daughter and that Mustang to prom.

I drove a murdered out Porsche Panamera S to junior prom and a Ferrari F430 to senior prom. Both were courtesy of my uncle, and both were cool as fuck.

Neither picture is mine, but both are the right color. His F430 had a red interior though

I didn’t go to prom (not my thing, especially in the area I grew up in), I just stayed home and played Desert Combat.

So I guess you could say I drove an M1A2 Abrams to prom.

Took my mom’s 2014 Fusion. One of the best looking sedans on the market makes quite the vehicle to roll up to prom in. Metallic black paint shining and all that jazz.

Mercedes Benz C350. It was my first time driving in the city, and I was doing it in an expensive and pretty fast car, which was my dads. it was kinda scary, but driving it on the highway was fun at least

I drove my ‘71 Chevelle that I DD’ed at the time (this would have been 2011). I didn’t drive it to school (bus is much cheaper than 10mpg + $4.50 gas) so not a lot of people knew I had it. My date’s dad was impressed when I picked her up too, which is a plus.
