Welcome back to the Oppositelock Cool Wall! In this bi-weekly series, we take a look at five cars and vote for their position on the cool wall. This series mimics the now-defunct Top Gear Cool Wall.

It what were practically unanimous decisions, both Toyotas and the Nissan were voted cool, and Godzilla and the Subie made sub-zero!

So now that I know for sure you guys definitely like the ST205, I’m now almost certain that I will be importing one when it’s legal and I have enough monies to do so. Luckily it will be legal by the time I graduate college, so there’s that.

(Just for clarification, the Mustang already up on the board is the Ecoboost, and the Challenger is the Hellcat. I’m doing the 5.0 V8 Mustang and the standard SRT8 Challenger. Y’know, trying to do themes.

I think most of these were cool except the merc, the only reason is that you would have to explain to someone what it is. Personally I like the car but for someone who isn’t a car enthusiast they would think it was just a normal boring merc.

But that makes it cool. Only enthusiasts would know, everyone else would comfortably assume you drive a normal Mercedes-Benz, and that’s cool.

Don’t get me wrong I would love to have one as well as most of the people on here, its just not as recognized as a mustang camaro and so on.

I don’t know, I’m the only car guy in my friends group, they all think you need to be a millionaire to own a CLA. To me, It’s a CLA. I’d rather have an Accord for that price by far.

Mercedes brand recognition makes any Mercedes instantly cool. Lexus works the same way, you put a Lexus ES here, everyone thinks you have an overpriced Camry, you show a Lexus ES to non-car people? “Oh my god! It’s a Lexus!”

Obviously the muscle cars are cooler, but I think the Mercedes gets a pass because of the badge. The cool wall works in weird ways. An S2000 is “Uncool”. I would never in my life say an S2000 is uncool, and I’m sure every non-car person would think an S2000 is cool ignoring the Honda badging,

Meh. I don’t get the point in putting all the horsepower in an obsolete family car. It’s a very “Mopar” thing to do. Overcome shit with MOAR POWAR! I guess it’s a bit similar to how Subie bros show up at the track boosted to the max and then get upset when “slow” cars outrun them. I just don’t get it.

It’s a very MUSCLE CAR thing to do. That’s what muscle cars are, really. Large bodies, larger engines, loud pipes, ridiculous straight line performance.
