It makes me think ‘4 speed automatic’ not ‘AWD’, which is what it’s supposed to denote.

I thought that’s what it meant for the longest time. I think I was in college before I realized what it really meant.
They could easily just use AWD, the system doesn’t need a name. VW does the same with ‘4Motion’

I saw a 4 matic amg last week...and thought to myself “wait...it’s can’t have a 4 speed automatic...can it?!?..” I really suck at knowing mercedes lineup lol.

Yup, for the longest time when I was young that's what I thought as well. It really is a dumb naming for their AWD system. Really dumb.

I wouldn’t know why you would put a badge on a car if it has an automatic!? Especially on an MB...since almost every model has an automatic. Kurzum, I don’t get how someone would get confused.

yes always hated that crap. its so huge and stupid its lame and remember when cars had ABS badges and turbo badges and fuel injection badges and whatever crap else.
