To put the chrome Ford Crown Victoria police interceptor cap on a 16” steel wheel?

I want to put these

On this

but the Fusion is 5x108. Obviously there are steel wheels available in this size but I was wondering if the cap fits onto the lug nuts.

There must be a way... saw a Golf with VW steelies and P71 caps on it yesterday.

If I’m not mistaken, those caps have little clip/basket things that go onto the lug nuts, so yes - you’re SOL. They’re also designed to go down into a recess (i.e. not flat), which is the main reason I dropped them from the list for my project.

Aww, man. I am downsizing my Fusion to 16s and was hoping this would be a fairly cheap, cool looking alternative to aftermarket alloys. Thanks.

It’s based on memory, so not 100% guaranteed, but I *have* looked at those before, at least. It’s basically a different profile but otherwise similar to the F-150 cap steelies. Now, if you can find a 16” steelie that has lugs for a 60s dog dish or a 50s baby moon, those cap sizes are mostly standardized. Yeah, I know, as if.

There was a guy on here that had a Black FoST with winter steelies and centercaps similar to that. He sold the FoST to buy a Jeep Wrangler in the NY area just a few weeks ago. I can’t remember his username but if you can figure out who that was he could tell you exactly what you need since the FoST is also 5x108

I should amend my earlier remark to say I can’t guarantee it doesn’t work, but it wouldn’t work *well* unless the cap really wasn’t fitting properly. Either special lugs with a smaller shoulder allowing a looser fit overall, or just stretching the cap in to fit would work, it just wouldn’t be quite right and you might lose caps going down the road - to say nothing of whether the cap fits the hole in the wheel properly.

I believe ford had those center caps on some of the old taurus steel wheels which were 5x108. I only say that because I believe I have seen Focus STs rocking them as winters. Might be something to look into.

This is what the bottom looks like, not my picture. But you get the idea, five metal clips.

Update on my last post: If it takes the same bolt pattern as the Focus, then it looks like it should work properly.

Here’s an example of that right here.

Haha, same. Looks great with those wheels though, black steelies and chrome centercaps is always a good look.

That’s actually good to know. I want to get a set of steel wheels for snow tires and the cop center caps would look pretty cool on them.
