This car is beautiful, and it is a V8, RWD, manual, sedan . I love the color, i think it’s Glacier Green which is a slightly rare color, but man the idea of maintaining it sounds like a nightmare, with almost 180,000 miles.

My ‘98 540i became a nightmare to maintain after 150k km (93k miles)

Never forget what luxury means....”to maintain at great expense”

My X5 was a nightmare to maintain from the time it...well, rolled out of the factory actually.

It’s a manual so that’s a plus. On these 540’s, watch for radiators, water pumps, thermostat(and housing), valley pan gaskets (under the intake in the “middle” of the engine, roughly 8 hours labor), alternators (water cooler $$$)... Should I go on? Lol

oh yes. and with that M-handling package, it’s as close as you can get to an E39 M5 with out paying 15,000 dollars.

That propeller badge comes at a cost. either high MSRP when new, or maintenance when used/old.

My 528i of the same vintage just passed 236,000 with no effort.

RIP wallet. It’s been good.
That’s just not enough money for a nice one.

truth. I just test drove a 1992 325i sedan. The asking price was 2200 bucks, and man was it a pile. It looked alright from the outside, but it lived on a dirtroad so everything was dusty, the owner had some very poorly installed, and cheap aftermarket audio equipment, including new lower front door speakers that were literally falling out, the headliner was falling down, the sunroof didn’t move, and the engine was one it’s way out. It was more gutless than my wife’s Cavalier.

Pretty hilarious that even BMW’s marketing got it wrong for a while!
