I’m not even sure there is a half hour rule but apparently there is one now when you’re up too late doing physics homework and you stumble across a video of the world’s weirdest rally in Sweden...it seems to be a group of modified station wagons with specialized horns and lighting travelling through Scandinavia with a few Rangies and campers thrown in...perhaps someone else has more of a clue?

Link in the video description:

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

If you keep watching, it becomes very interesting, with even a Saab 95 in the mix and other odd vehicular choices checking in with some very odd horn choices...overall, probably an excellent and very entertaining waste of ten and a half minutes...

Plus, the channel also has a video of the Swedish emergency services slalom-drifting a Volvo ambulance in the snow...plus some ‘Murica later on...

I can tell you exactly what it is, as I’ve been a past (02-2013) and future (02-2016) participant of the winter edition of the Carbagerun. We went through the Alps in 2013, 2016 will be a bit of Alps and the Pyrenees and 2014 and/or 2015 was Scandinavia, which is where your video is from. It’s a ‘rally’ (no speed/time involved) featuring €500 cars from <1998. Most people pick a wagon as it’s easily the most practical and rational vehicle for such a trip. I did too in 2013, I used the Subaru Legacy below. For next year I’m planning to use something else. Something less rational . Most people do take that €500 rule with a grain of salt, but we actually did buy that Subaru for exactly €500. It did require a new starter and timing belt though.

What is the beauty at 5:32ish? Tried linking to that start time but it won’t let me. I can’t decide if it is a 70’s era Saab or a Citroen. The headlights look Citroenish, but the body looks not very French.

You would be right about the Citroen part. It’s a Citroen Ami 8 I do believe.

Aha! It all makes sense now...I saw your post earlier and had no idea that you meant to do this sort of thing with it...I say definitely go with the Xsara, but only because I have a soft spot for Citroens... :D

That definitely looks right. The yellow headlights would also support the French connection. The one in the video looks slightly overloaded based on lack of ride height in the back.

Well hey, hydropneumatics! (Though I doubt the Ami had any...)
