Cars & Coffee tomorrow, Preparation Required

Im enjoying a quick snack having spent the better part of 4 hours being stared at by my neighbors while washing, waxing and vacuuming the SL.

That layer of grime from the winter is finally gone, I just held off on the detail spray because I dont have much left, and Im saving it for the morning.

Got in there real good with a wheel brush and it did wonders for the Monoblocks. They need to be refinished (18 years and 100k miles will do that), but theyre still very presentable.

Also, this thing has better wall to wall carpetting than my house. Might snap a few more shots to put up later, but this is all for now.

Paul Miller on Rt46 East is in the morning for anyone in the area. Its their new dealership closer to Boonton, not the same one from last year.

The weather is a little chilly for it, but it was bearable. Another 5-10 degrees would have changed it from bearable to enjoyable, but Im still alive, and the car is clean.

I wish I had space to take the hard top off, but thats life. By the May 10 Caffeine & Carburetors I should have some space to store it.

The only thing that makes me nervous when detailing the car is the emblem on the trunk lid. Feels very loose, I may just order a replacement to have on hand just in case, same with the front, they both feel a little off and it’ll really piss me off to lose one and have to wait for the replacement.

I also need to register with the Mercedes Classic Center, but for some reason I couldnt get through on their website last I tried.

But on to you, what will you be detailing?

I have a lot of new neighbors (small dead end side street), and theyre probably wondering what an SL is doing in my driveway and why my parents let me drive it. In time they’ll learn it was never my parents, just mine.

It’s just a regular Cars & Coffee that’s hosted by Paul Miller once a year. All sorts of cars show up, last year there was an SSC Ultimate Aero, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Bentleys and tons of everything in between.

I’ll be there tomorrow in the SL600 Sport, I’ll be arriving around 8am.
