I’ve always wanted an Isuzu 4x4 Pickup from this generation. I don’t quite know why, the engines are blah and there’s nothing special about them, but damn if I don’t scour Craigslist and eBay for them. Also, I have the strangest urge to replace the front clip with one from a Honda Passport, just to confuse people when they see the Honda ‘H’ on the front of an old pickup truck. (I also want to take an old S10 and put an Olds Bravada front end on it. I never claimed it makes sense, I just want to.)

Makes no sense for me to own one now that I have a kid but I’d love a Dakota R/T

That or do an SRT10 swap into a 99 dakota

These are great trucks! We had a 1990; kept for 17 years and 143,000 miles, and would have taken it across the country even at the end. Only complaints I had were that it could have used a little more power, and parts were expensive and hard to find the last years we had it. It was tough, cheap to buy and run, and dependable; hard to beat that combination.

Maybe not quite irrational, but since yesterday I’ve been longing for a first gen Ford Lightning as a second car. Old enough to be a potential beater, but still fast and useful.

My mother had a ‘72 Chevelle Malibu coupe that she loved. It wasn’t an SS, but I still remember it. She got rid of it in ‘82 I think, because the gas tank was leaking and she was single and had no options to fix it. If I win the lottery, I’ll find her a restored one.

A wrangler, a 2013 wrangler. Because new engine, new interior, new seats. A bad idea considering it's expensive, not my 31 mpg but rather 20 at best, and why own one? They have such a long lasting rough Americana appeal like no other, man. It's so cool to take off the top and ride around with the freedom of knowing you could go off road any day of the week, handle most anything mother nature can throw at you. Too bad I like my car a little too much to take the plunge into wrangler ownership.

I don’t off-road. I don’t have kids. But I want one badly. My parents do live up a gravel mountain pass in VA, so should I need to get there in any condition, I know this would make it. That’s my only justification for wanting one. I really have no use for such a capable truck otherwise.

I had an 88 2wd long bed with the wide 4wd fenders and a 2.3 5 speed. It was apparently a rare option combo. Later trucks in that gen got the 60 degree v6 that was in every GM product at the time.

I bought the truck for $300, drove it 20,000 miles on one oil change, and when the engine blew I gave it to a friend of mine who built it into a bagged pavement scraper.

A 1991 TVR Griffith 5.0(not sure if this engine came in the early one, so maybe one with an engine swap) because it was introduced my birth year. Living here in California not only would it be impossible to import (for a few years), I highly doubt it would pass smog, I can’t even begin to think of the costs to keep it one the road, and that fact that my lust to DD rediculous cars would probably kill me in this car.

I've always LOVED that generation of Isuzu, and really want a good one some day.

I had a '94 4x4 for awhile, that needed too much love so I let it go. Then I got an '89 SpaceCab 4x4, but ended up letting that go too. Someday I'll have a good regular cab one. They're spring under in the rear, (handle better and lower COG than many small pickups), and Calmini makes some beefy swaybars for them. Or that's my plan anyway

Wranglers are great. One dealership near me once had a Wrangler on which they had done the kit conversion to a pickup truck. I was a huge fan of the old CJ8 Scrambler and Jeep trucks in general, so I drooled over that thing. They wanted $55k for it though. I don’t care if it was a stick, that’s too much.
