My sister competes in Odyssey of the Mind, which is an extremely awesome sketch competition for kids up through high school. It’s a worldwide thing and it’s seriously entertaining. But anyway, I figured I’d take home one of the standees from work and give it to her to be painted over as a background. (Of course, the teams aren’t allowed outside help, so I couldn’t say it’s for a background... I just had to give it to her and let her decide what to do with it)
Anyway, long story short, this happened:

Unfortunately, there was the most microscopic bit of slack in my ropes, which allowed it to shift ever so slightly with the wind, causing the cardboard to begin ripping when I was about 3/4 of the way home. I pulled over and took it apart to put in the trunk and back seat, but then the pieces didn’t fit without bending and I had already cut the ropes. So it’s pretty beat up now, but it did make it home without becoming destroyed. I consider that a success.

To be honest, I probably won’t be much help now since it was a while ago. All I can say is that you should absolutely take advantage of any and all resources available to you. I wish I did sooner.
