So, what do we have today?

Rover 214? Too obvious.

Have a Palfinger Crayler BM 214. Slides under the side of a truck when folded up, as opposed to plugging in at the back which takes up allowable length. It’s remote controlled.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Didn’t expect that, did we?

My favorite truck! I just wish that it would be a bit narrower so it could be registered in Finland.

Indeed. I’ve never seen one though.

I totally want to get one of these, make it shortened 4x4 to improve maneuverability and install a huge turbo in it.

Since I’m ‘Murican and we write it 4/21 here, how about the Pontiac Super Duty 421?

Kinja'd!!!

Underrated at 410hp, with a 13.0:1 compression and a maximum shift point of 6400(!) RPM. These things had more power and less weight than a GTO.

Whoa! Thats awesome :D

Also, a neat place to store a go-kart. That is the only reason I’d buy a truck / RV :D

Yeah, I think it is around 279 cm wide measured from the hubs. So it would be really hard to modify the problem away. I think that we have one registered Kraz but it belongs into really weird vehicle category and our vehicle administration has since specially mentioned that a Kraz cannot be registered anymore if it remains too wide.

It has other weird problems too. The brake system is weird and the balancing the wheel brakes is really difficult. The power steering is very asymmetric the helping force is very low to other direction (I don’t remember which is the “good” direction”).

Some examples had an unmarked winch operating lever that acts also as a frame self destruction system. I heard that some were modified with a safety pin to release the winch if the pulling force goes out of control. But I was warned not to touch one certain lever.

I have driven one during my military service. It was pretty awesome.

13.0:1 sounds pretty much like a race only engine. I don’t think that any suitable gasoline was widely available in 60’s.

It was basically Pontiac’s equivalent to the Dodge Dart Super Stock. A drag car sold through Pontiac dealers and road-legal.

The factory racers were awesome. I wish the world was still as great as it was then.
