If you’re applying for a job, maybe you ought to know what your email address is.
There’s a guy named DeShawn that’s apparently trying to get a job as HR generalist. I know this because he doesn’t know his own email address, and National Vision is actually interested and wants to set up an interview.

In other news regarding e-mail problems I never thought could happen, I just went back to work at a new position at the same company I left almost 2 years ago, and they just reactivated my old e-mail account. Apparently, it has been sitting dormant and unmonitored all this time, and it turns out that I didn’t
quite
switch all important contacts to my personal address like I thought. It also turns out that Allstate thinks I’m my brother, for some reason. I have no idea how many communications regarding his accidents have been missed over the past few years.

Thank the gods I have a relatively uncommon name.

There is a political activist in Canada with the same first and last name as me. I got to gmail first so he has to use his middle initial. I get his email all the time. We’ve communicated a few times. Seems like an ok guy.
I got each of my kids their own gmail when they were born. Just to be safe.

I chose a Gmail that has absolutely nothing to do with my real name. Yay!

Well, as it turns out, my ongoing devotion to the ‘Kirky’ moniker does have its advantages. Now, if I could only stop automatically apologising every time I give someone my email address...

I got emails last year for a dating site that a guy with the same name was signing up for, only difference in our emails was mine has the period between names while his didn’t. I did have fun screwing with his profile before changing the profile to his proper email.

I have a relatively short ( 7 letter) gmail address that consists of part of my name . A family in Brazil kept adding me to their family vacation planning, birthday photos, updates about grandma, etc... for years. After a number of responses back to them, I think I am finally out of their lives. It was a weird window while it lasted.

Mine is full first name, middle initial, last name. So the odds are pretty slim.

Fortunately (I guess) almost nobody has my last name, only a couple other people in the country have my last name with the same first initial, and it would appear nobody actually has the same first name/last name combination as I do.

I’m pretty sure stephanie.schrader@jalopnik.com gets all the fun crap I don’t.
(Ahem. It’s stef.schrader who needs that mega-cut of race cars hitting people in the nuts, not whoever stephanie.schrader is. Also, send more racing NSU TTs. To stef. Because.)
