Golf ball sized hail in North Houston/Harris County. I was at my parents house. Me and my dad ran out with sheets of 48x120in. R6 A/C duct boards and covered our cars and the neighbors cars.
Unprotected cars in the neighborhood got F’ing dented up to hell!
(not my pic)
Purple! WTF Pat Bateman?

That’s bigger than a golf ball

Wow I wish you were my neighbor! We’ve been lucky to avoid hail the last few years in Austin.

You’re right, I’m so sorry. I’m a failure in the eyes of the prophet _

It happens out of the blue in those summer storms. Knock on wood that we are fortunate for now

Thanks, gotta look out for one another always.

I don’t miss large hail. When I was toddler age apparently a softball sized chunk busted through the roof of my great uncle’s house and landed in my playpen.

Oh dayum! That is crazy

A few minutes ago from my back porch:
I got done grilling burgers just in time. I don’t think we’re getting any hail down here with this system (knocking on wood).

Westlake had hail last night.

Dayum! That looks rad. I recorded this fast motion video of the clouds rotating. Insanitary!

Good ole Texas hail, dont miss that. These guys did almost 20k in damage to our house a couple years ago. Thank god for insurance.

I had to convince my fearless seven year old daughter that it was not, in fact, a tornado.

Awww. I was afraid of those as a kid. Now, I love being out in some mean ass storms

Oh dayum dude! That is crazy.

I love storms. It goes back to my adrenaline junky days when I was a firefighter. Severe weather in the area meant lightning strikes on houses, big transformers that blew up (love that green glow and deafening buzz), car accidents, and flooding (if no swift water rescues, I still got to tell wealthy people in 7 Series or S-Classes that if they didn’t turn around, I’d have them arrested).
I swear, if I won the lottery, I’d go back to school, get a meteorology degree, and be Jim Cantore’s tornado-chasing competition.

100% agree! When i was a kid I wanted to be a firefighter. After high school, i wanted to be a meteorologist sooo bad. I think the Air Force might be the best bet in leaning that stuff right? Idk, but if I had the money (because time doesn’t matter with chingos de money) i’d study that also. Fuck it dude, let’s just chase storms for OPPO. We both got 4WD!

I need to check my lotto ticket from Friday night.
I’d go get a 4x4 1979 Suburban, swap out the engine for a twin turbo’d oil-burning variant, and go balls to the wall in some north Texas storm. Legen
Wait for it...
DARY.

any damage?
![]() 04/20/2015 at 09:24 |
|
The other cars had those little dents but ours were good. Crazy stuff. Branches everywhere
![]() 04/21/2015 at 19:53 |
|
Would throwing a thick blanket or two over the vehicle help out with preventing denting?
![]() 04/21/2015 at 20:34 |
|
Not, sure. It should help for sure. Those things come down hard. A thick blanket is better than nothing
![]() 04/21/2015 at 20:39 |

That’s what I’m thinking. Any extra padding should help.
