Has this been brought up before?

I don’t recall this being brought up before(even though tons of things that are for sure Vaporware do) and if not I’m going to do it today. What I’m referring to is the next generation of the Venom. The car that Germany complained about not being a proper production car so it can’t hold the record. The car people around here said is just a highly modified Lotus, yes I have seen that. They have renderings of a car they call the Hennessey Venom F5, supposedly the next Venom. Here’s an image “borrowed” from the official !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

Kinja'd!!!

These rendering were apparently released on August 4 of last year. They of course have a nice little press release. Here’s the first paragraph and my personal favorite snip of it

Here at last, the Venom F5, successor to the Venom GT. If you remember from Meteorology 101, the Fujita scale pegs the strongest tornado as an F5, with winds of 261 to 318 mph, so it’s a fitting name for this next-generation Venom that’s the very definition of power and speed. The F5’s bold, lower-drag shape, additional power and enhanced technology will push this Texas-built hyper car to velocities previously unimagined for a road-legal, series-produced vehicle.

Oh, and for some reason there is a little bit about Pennzoil tossed in there. Presumably they get some discount or some funding from them.

Pennzoil will continue as a key technology partner, and its Ultra Platinum full synthetic oil—the factory fill for both the Venom and every Hennessey-built vehicle—will ensure the performance and reliability of the F5’s engine under the most extreme conditions.

I’ll wrap this up by tossing out some of the numbers they provide so you lovely peole do not have to follow the link if you so chose not to.

Top Speed: Above 270.49mph

Drag Coefficient: Below 0.40

Power: Possibly exceeding 1400hp

Curb Weight: Under 1300kg(because it sounds more impressive I would assume)

O-186mph: Probably better than the Venom GT’s 13.63 seconds

0-200mph: Probably better than the Venom GT’s 14.51 seconds

Price: Higher than the Venom Gt’s $1.2 million

Unveiling: Sometime in 2015

Deliveries Beginning: Late 2016

Production Amount: At least 30

Thank you, I must have been out that day. It's still nice to be reminded that they said it so they can be checked on.

You’re welcome. I’m glad you posted it though because I had honestly forgotten about it until I saw the lead image.

Is it Vaporware though? Haven’t heard any news about it recently.

I like the front end but the rear is a bit strange in a few places. That being said, I hope they make it as well.

I hadn't really thought of that. This thing had bettered be made so everybody can stop mocking the U.S. This and the Ford GT against the world(and the Viper?)! Your turn GM.

I don't know, he seems to come out of nowhere with his stuff. Make a massive hubbub when in comes out and blow everybody's socks off.

Let’s hope it’s real.

I for one hope it is. We are right in the middle of the Automotive Renaissance so it wouldn't be one bit surprising if this comes to fruition.

It doesn’t look like it couldn’t be done. If Hennesey finally decides to do like Saleen and have a production car, more props to them. Theres no deadline on when your car has to be assembled (unless you make your own). Just ask Acura or Lexus about that. (Ba-Zing!)

Especially with the mind of John Hennessy it could become reality.

And we definitely are. Some of my roommates are sort of into cars and they were surprised one day when I said I was astonished at the type of variety there is on offer for new cars. They thought I would be complaining about tightening fuel and emissions standards when in reality, this is the best time to be a car enthusiast. Since when can you buy a Ford Raptor, Toyota Prius, BMW i8, a Dodge Hellcat, and a Cayman Gt4 at once? This is the best time to have unlimited money in the car market. We’ll only really appreciate it in 10-15 years.

The upside to Hennessey is that he would get antsy and go crazy and get it done. I don't think he could possibly live having a timeline like Acura or Lexus.

I'm not going to lie, the stuff that is resulting from the tightening fuel standards is what fascinates me the most. Who would have thought that you could buy a car that has an engine that can fit in a suitcase and it not be completely useless? Or a Mustang with a 4 cylinder engine that is more powerful than many of those from the past. Those are just two examples from one company.
