You could slap a Kia badge on that thing and I'd believe it, not really a bad mistake. There'll be real gearheads who dont give a shit what it is, so normal motorists certainly wouldnt know.

Some people are and always will be completely oblivious when it comes to cars. And sometimes even their surroundings. Not saying that your mother is oblivious, but maybe she just doesn't care about cars?

Can't really fault her for thinking they're similar as some Kia models are geared towards the same youths that Scions are. Had she said that the companies were related, as Scion and Toyota are, then that's a different story.
