Let my mom use my car, and wake up to this 5 minutes ago. Its a stick shift and tldr forgot the parking brake.

plottwist: upon further inspection the parking brake was FULLY ENGAGED

{This car honestly is such a pos. it's shut off on me on the highway randomly, and had its brakes go out on the road so i'm not really surprised to be quite honest.}

Yeah. I'm so thankful my dog wasn't sleeping in his usual spot, else he'd be under that car right now.

The little ledge it went off too is about 1-2 feet, so god knows how the undercarriage fared. We'll see.

That sucks man, was it not in gear? My driveway leading up to my garage is pretty steep, Ive checked a couple times and in gear only, it will hold. But I always make sure to firmly engaged the ebrake.

Not yet, waiting on my grandfather to come look at the fences and crap, and also waiting on a wrecker since all attempts at getting it out have failed. UHGGGGggggggggg

It was in neutral as never before has the e-brake really showed any signs of possibly failing before.

I normally put it in gear and pull the brake, but my mom typically forgets. Oops.

Keep an eye on the wrecker, make sure he doesn't live up to his name. Looks like a post maybe stopping it coming out backwards? Good luck

This is a great opportunity to upgrade to a nicer car.

Ah I will, and the little ledge it fell from is keeping it from backing up. :\

AND there is the tow truck, stay tuned.

Yep, I had a cable snap on a car which was barely on an incline (seriously, I would have said there was no incline) and it rolled all the way across a Home Depot lot, up over a curb, missed a bunch of people waiting for a bus, rolled out onto route 1 and got hit by a bus. So yeah, I always leave them in gear now...parking brakes are not to be trusted.

the parking brake has to be ALL the way up, as high as possible, so high that when you want to disengage it it turns into a boss battle. Mine is able to just start moving away with no problem with its parking brake engaged 85-90% of the way up, but it's an automatic. It definitely is a piece of crap but it's a great car to beat the shit out of. Its paint on the wing is coming off, clear coat on the hood is disappearing. haven't had it turn off randomly, but it did lose power steering completely two years ago. Also doesn't have an airbag...never got replaced since it is a salvage title. Just got the flow pipe replaced. Never had any serious mechanical issues though. It was pretty interesting to drive the car without power steering for a while...I would have probably had some nice pecks by now.

Shutting off while driving? Crankshaft speed sensor, perhaps?

Ah I failed to elaborate on it being a result of that infamous ignition switch that does whatever it wants.

Ah I forgot to update this haha sorry! Yeah, wrecker guy was amazing. He did this for both right front and rear tires, and SLOOOOOOOWLY managed to pull it without damaging anything at all. Major thanks to Seth of AAA.
