The Objective: Find the newest used car that you can that will do 0-60 in 3.99 seconds or less, priced under $30,000. A challenge worthy of the Oppoverse!

The Rules: Must have a going price under $30K. Since we are looking at the used market, if you can present two examples of the car for under the price cap, even better! 0-60 must be under 4 seconds. Anything that starts with 4.000000~ is out.

You may want to reconsider the car in the lead image: http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/i-hate-my-corv…

That's just one persons opinion!

Lots of people love their C5 Vettes.

Ha I was posting it as a joke. I'm currently pining after a Vette myself for my next car. Although I'd probably go C4 because 80s (and monies)

They're in pounds, but the conversion to USD brings them super close to $30k.

Oh, haha. They're good cars and the community that goes with them is also a big plus. I say that a lot, because it really is.

Was it ever firmly established if Jay Lauer (OP on the Corvette Hate) was being sarcastic or not? I stopped following the comment thread in class. Anyways, I love the looks of them, and they're very abundant in my home state (MI). An 80s sports car is my current attainable dream, and I'm honestly a bit frightened of european metal since my first two cars have been ultra reliable economy cars. The C4 sounds like the perfect solution of performance, DDable practicality, 80s style, and affordability for me, so it's at the top of my list at the moment.

Gotta believe Fox body mustangs are the cheapest way to get there, still.

No, it seemed kinda strange the entire way that it was written though. The reposting strategy fucked everybody right in their minds though.

They do look really nice. The C4 is also reliable and the parts availability is insane.

What!

£20,000 for a MK1 Tuscan?

You would have to be mad and stupid to pay that for one of those.

... I wonder if my numbers came up.

Seriously, dat repost doe. I know 80s cars aren't everybody's cup of tea, and maybe it's because that was just before I was born, but I go absolutely crazy for them!

I feel the same way about 90's- early 2000's cars...only if 993 Porsches and Supra Turbo targa's weren't so damn expensive.

This is a tough one, unless we're counting modified or stuff like the Lotus Sev7v7en. Apparently you can get an Ariel Atom 3 for 49k, and while that's the base engine it still does 60 in 2 .9.

A 2013 TTRS will break 4 seconds (C&D did 3.6 with a 1 foot rollout), but with such a low volume I've given up waiting for them to come down in price. Last search I did, the absolute best prices were still low 40s.
