My old truck door weighs? I'm looking to recycle it for a profit. I just got off the phone with a metal recycling place that a family friend is involved with in some way shape or form (It might be a family member actually, I dont know. I got their info from my mom.) They said they pay 4 cents a pound for steel. So, How much do you reckon the door weighs?

Maaaybe 100lbs, maybe, that's a generous estimate. Anyway, that likely isn't worth the gas to drive it to the scrap yard, unless you've got a sizeable pile of other stuff to bring away (that hydrant you hit should be a few hundred lbs :P).
Also, I don't know what scrap prices have done in the last few months but the last load I brought away (October or November, I think) got me at least 7 or 8 cents/pound of steel.

You're looking at less than a dollar if you recycle it.

It might weigh 80lb. That's... not really even worth turning in.

Take the glass, plastics and lining off of it or else it will be considered contaminated and they won't take it.

Save the window from it just incase. They are just gonna break the window anyway. maybe save the other parts too like the door card, window mechanism ect.
At 4 cents a pound you are looking to make about 2-3 bucks. not even worth the gas to drive is there. Just hang it in the garage as a souvenir of your mistake.

Put it on craigslist. Even at 10-15 bucks it's more than you'll get for scrap and it's still a functional door that someone with a bed-equipped large car can use.

How much does it weigh? Depends on how much lead you can squeeze in there.
Have you weighed it? Jump on the bathroom scales with and without it, check the difference in weight, done
