Geoff Stoneback had this guys name pasted onto his car for FD Long Beach to show support. Real shame he passed away. I know people get hurt in cars too, but this sort of thing is what kept me off bikes.

While I dont want to downplay his death, people die all the time. Car crashs, slipping on stairs...

if anything, you are WAY ahead of most of us as you in europe. Where they actually have driving standards.

Very true, it's just a risk/ reward thing to me. I get almost as much enjoyment out of a car with a little reduced risk. While our driver training is good, you still see some terrifying driving on the roads. A friend of mine saw the aftermath of a motorcycle accident once and it was very unpleasant to say the least.

It's other drivers that scare me the most.

Nice try :D Cars dont come close to bikes. Not even remotely close. But I get the risk part. I tend to be more proactive in my safety on the bike ( Loud bike, check, liberal use of the horn, check, never hanging out in blind spots and learning how to recognize bad drivers and staying away from them, check) But Its not for everyone

I'm friends with a lot of people from completely different types of motorsports and he seems to have been a part of all of them.

Bikes are definitely more fun, but I wouldn't say massively so. It's down to personal opinion really. I can respect that you're a sensible proactive rider and enjoy it, I just worry too much about what could happen.
