On Saturday I was watching CTV news (a rarity), and there was a bit on how difficult it is to drive automatic cars now a days, because of the difference in the gear selector. They mentioned the MKC having the engine on/off near the gear buttons, one of the Mercs having the gear arm where the wipers are usually, and the BMW. They interviewed an Ottawa lawyer saying some crap like cars should be intuitive to drive, no one should have to read a manual before driving a car, they should just get in and go.
The whole time I was thinking, why wouldn't you take a few minutes to learn your car, wouldn't the dealer show you how the car functions? The last thing I want is drivers just getting in their car and not really paying attention to what is going on.
Easy solution get a manual.

To be fair, autojournalists have said that the MKC and MKZ are annoying for the reason listed.

30 sec to 5 minutes max. That's all the time you get to figure out your automatic car. Can't do it in that time? Then you don't get to drive anything anymore. Sorry.
I MEAN FOR FUCK SAKE EACH POSSIBLE THING THE TRANS CAN DO HAS IT'S OWN GODDAMN BUTTON NOW, IT CAN'T GET ANY EASIER!!!

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like all TV (including news) is targeted at people who have the intellectual capacity of a bag of vegetables. Somehow this news article doesn't surprise me. Still doesn't make it any less sad.

Manufacturers even recommend that you read the manual first lol.

Putting the words "Ottawa" and "lawyer" next to each other have *never* yielded a good result.
If you want to know how that will turn out ultimately, I present "Washington, D.C." + "Lawyer"

I'd just like to take a moment and remind you that you probably have halitosis, and on top of that, consumption of dihydrogen monoxide will most definitely lead to death.
I'm also pretty sure that dihydrogen monoxide could be linked to cancer in the great state of California, if you give them long enough.

What isn't linked to cancer in California

Aka the shifter that causes chronic DeMuro rage.
