Girlfriends mothers boyfriend is on the hunt. Has cash, anyone know of one lying around in project to ready for paint status? I found one in Milwaukee but for the price it might go quick.

Good thing you got this nailed down further from when I talked to you the other day. Man, two-door makes it hard enough, let alone SS. He's not up for making an SS clone?

damn that's awesome

If he *were* up for just a two-door with some tweaking, something like this might work. It's close enough I'd be able to look at it.

Or this.

no he wants a real one, and I agree. I found a 2 door sedan and he was like meh, has to be an SS coupe. I am talking to him on the one in Milwaukee. 8 grand, from texas at some point so he says the under carriage isnt rotted out. True SS/327 car, not an SS 6 banger. Says all the shiny bits are in the garage

Or, delving into the more "project" realm:

Better than anything I've come up with so far in terms of genuineness.

hmm, let me pick his brain a little more. His Camino he brought back from the dead, but that wasnt an SS car, doesnt matter now with the engine it has in it...

Numbers matching or not?

preferably, but not necessary

Gotcha. Well, if somebody has something you are interested in the 2nd and 3rd numbers in the VIN must be 17 or 18.
17 is an original sixer, 18 would be a V8.

yeah man, I shot some pics back to a thread on this post to Ramblinrover on a 66 SS 327 -supposedly originally a 327. Can you look for that reply with the pics and give me an idea of if you think it is a good ballpark for that car. I will get the vin to be sure

What's his budget? Is he flat out looking for a project?
Unless he's painting it himself that is looking like $10k+ for a quality paint job.
I know of a '65SS for sale. Excellent quality cruiser in CA. $22k

has to be a 66-67 body, and he is going to paint it himself. He is $65K+ deep into his 67 el camino 572 build, and since that is done except for a swap to FI, he is itching for another project. I bet he'll stuff the original motor on a shelf somewhere and get a built small block for it, rims, do the paint and interior - but be able to slap the original rims and engine back to it easy enough. His prep and paint work on the Camino I am actually fairly stunned about knowing what it came from. Sighting down the body lines it is almost TOO straight. Multiple award winner though

Exactly what I needed to know. Let me poke around.
Back to the car at hand, if it's got the original running gear the asking price of $8k isn't bad at all. Matching engine and trans at the very least. Carb, distributor, and exhaust manifolds are nice to see but not really required. I'd knock off maybe $500 per side that needs quarter panel work.
Floor pans will be a non issue. Rear frame and rockers will be a big one. If he doesn't own a spot rot he should go buy one right away. If he's looking to mod it everything under the hood, subframe and all, will be tossed for Church boys or DSE stuff.

Also, budget undetermined. He is the kind of person if he likes it, he will get it. I have someone ready to go poke around at that thing if he says go, but I will be looking at least a few more days. Spot Rot I have and my friend who would be checking it would have Good info and the frame and rockers. Supposedly a texas car at one point so hopefully it didnt see much winter action.
On another note, I am not sure you have my personal email since I left my company - puchscooter100@gmail.com you can hit me at so I have your contact again (though I think it was your user name at yahoo?)
