It's a Jaaaaag XK-R (supercharged) on loan from a friend.
It's even more fun than expected! Would actually make a pretty great daily driver...hmm.
Anything Oppo wants to know?

How many times has it broken down in the last 30 seconds? Don't say none, because we both know that's not true.

That's a fair question. In the case of a Jag, it's sort of relative.
Everything works fine, but there's that little problem with hydraulic fluid dripping out of the headliner at the top of the windshield . Which is apparently pretty common with this model.
Because when you route hydraulic fluid using degradable hoses from the trunk all the way to the top of the windshield for the convertible top latch, what could go wrong?

Known to Jag owners as the "green shower." The hoses are under something like 1600 pounds of pressure. Replacing the latch and replacing the hoses with more durable hoses is the time-consuming and/or costly fix, it requires taking apart much of the interior (the Jaguar forums about the XK8-XKR have lots of threads about this and a couple of ways to reduce the max pressure through a relief valve or resistor). There's a stopgap measure of putting on a cap and raising the top using the pump but latching the thing with the manual tool that comes with the car, not as elegant as just pushing the button but better than not having a functional top. That is what I have been doing since my own experience. Luckily the fluid used is mineral based and doesn't mess up the interior when it goes. I have an XK8, I guess my question for you would be does it feel genuinely quick to drive, with the extra 80 hp? I drove one once briefly and I couldn't really tell the difference, I think the blower knocks off 1.5 seconds or so to 60.

Was just reading about the green shower (which sounds like something even...worse) on the forums. Sounds like a real hassle to fix, though not the worst thing that could happen.
It's been a while since I drove an XK8, but I don't know that I notice that much of a difference either. Probably more of a difference from the better wheels and tires and suspension goodies, which I'm really enjoying.

It would make a great daily driver!
Except for the "daily" part.

I know you're right. But it doesn't help the wanting.

Oh I know. Jag coupes have been desirable for, like, ever:

Ain't that the truth?
