to continue spending massive quantities of money on new to me vehicles.
I just finished my taxes, and even though I made less money last year than the year before, and my mortgage / PMI / real estate taxes stayed roughly the same, I somehow managed to get $1,000 less back this year...
Upon further review, because I spent, well, an obscene amount of money on new cars and trucks in 2013 (seriously, 3 cars and 2 motorcycles...) I got to write off ALL the taxes on those vehicles. I bought, exactly, zero vehicles last year, and therefore lost almost $5,000 in deductions this year.
See dad, you said my automobile addiction would never pay off, but the one year I decide not to buy anything, it ends up costing me (or well, not getting me as much back). So I guess more cars then.
