Unless there isn't any.
Honda just riced the production version and called it the concept. That being said, I like the color.

Of all the cars I've owned I think the RX8 had the weirdest/coolest concept

That Honda actually looks pretty good.

had a quick hunt, couldn't find one for the 6th gen Civic, if anyone happens to know of one I'd be interested to see it

Too bad Honda didn't have the testicular fortitude to actually use these sexy fenders.
![]() 04/09/2015 at 13:22 |

I'm glad they fixed that front end.

Hot damn!
![]() 04/09/2015 at 13:22 |

It looks like that was ripped right out of Disney's Cars.

At least the production version is stronger!

The concept for my FJ cruiser was pretty radical for Toyota:

Not ever going to like its punched in face.

Still have to annotate pictures (FU Gawker IT) in order to post a response.
Anyway, Mine is a little weird because my vehicle didn't technically have a concept, due to an emergency refresh. Here's a concept for the 2012 Civic anyway

A little uglier, but yeah...glad they got those bugs worked out.
![]() 04/09/2015 at 13:26 |

The concept was insane! At least they kept most of it.

I think I lost...

I drive an old Corolla, so I'm certain this or something like it was the concept.

Not bad!
![]() 04/09/2015 at 13:28 |

![]() 04/09/2015 at 13:29 |

The other concept was even stranger looking.
![]() 04/09/2015 at 13:30 |

Honda's known for not changing their concepts that much, which is why I'm super excited for the new Civic!
![]() 04/09/2015 at 13:30 |
|
Looks like they didn't change it at all.
![]() 04/09/2015 at 13:30 |

Oh okay. Looks poorly-proportioned.

IMO the 2006-2007 Accords look the best and the 2013-Present look fantastic. The ones they did in between looked like shit, except for the coupes which always looked nice.
![]() 04/09/2015 at 13:33 |

Lowered like the regular Xtreme but with with the ZR5 crew cab it could hardly look normal. Also the dual rear wheels don't help... V8 THO
![]() 04/09/2015 at 13:36 |

Except the 8th gen coupe.
Looks very bloated from the rear.

So far as I can tell, the closest thing my 106 has to a concept are the design study prototypes that inspired the car it was later derived from, the Citroen AX. The larger pictures at the bottom represent the production AX:
And here's the 106 S1:
And, finally, the 106 S2, which is the car I actually own—though in substantially less exciting trim than in either of the pictures:

Current Q5 I don't think had any real concept stages, I had a 350Z and this was the concept debuted in the late 90's for the Z's return to America. Luckily not too many people, if any, were satisfied with it and it eventually ended up being what we know as the 350.
![]() 04/09/2015 at 13:38 |

I present to you, the all-aluminum Audi Space Frame concept. Yes, the top one is a color photo.
![]() 04/09/2015 at 13:39 |

Umm, that concept.

Chrome'd bro.

|
![]() 04/09/2015 at 13:41 |

Yeah it really was. I think if you trace it all the way back it goes to the rx-01 concept which was a pretty cool little coupe.
![]() 04/09/2015 at 13:41 |
|
Ironically the chrome finish is really the only thing that didn't make it to the production car. It's otherwise basically identical. Makes the concept more boring I guess, but whatever.
![]() 04/09/2015 at 13:42 |
|
IMHO the concept looks like it got punched and is cross-eyed.

1994 Ford Ranger PowerStroke Concept. Its got a diesel.

Looks like a hamster, and now I get it.
![]() 04/09/2015 at 13:52 |

I wish they'd built that one.

My Volvo was loosely based off of this concept.

VW Vanagon concept.
![]() 04/09/2015 at 13:55 |

The interior on that concept looks fantastic.
I've always loved the FJ as well. I'm quite sad they're not making it anymore.
![]() 04/09/2015 at 13:57 |

The two versions....
![]() 04/09/2015 at 13:57 |

Pretty accurate until the refresh.
And I don't know if there even was a concept vehicle for the XJ?
![]() 04/09/2015 at 13:58 |

The second one.
The first one... EW.
![]() 04/09/2015 at 13:58 |

No luck, really. I could post the original Land Rover prototype for my Series IIa, but that would be cheating, with 18 years and three significant model changes in between... I haven't found one for the Benz either, nor the Falcon as such, though I did find this :
![]() 04/09/2015 at 14:01 |

Wife´s car. Think mine was created without any concept.
![]() 04/09/2015 at 14:04 |

The first prototype was built in 1981
Then the debut at the 1983 Tokyo Motor Show

I have an 06 Charger R/T so this was its preceding concept from 1999:

A DSM concept car? I dunno that's...wait never mind. 1989 Mitsubishi HSRII
You can tell where the Stealth/3000GT/ Pagani Huyra got their active aero ideas from...

Okay, that looks kinda cool.

Fiesta ST "Concept"
![]() 04/09/2015 at 14:24 |

Possibly for the same reason there was no concept for my Volvo.
-"What's it going to look like?"
-"We don't care, just do a box or something."

2009 Toyota Venza AS-V concept, done by Five Axis Design. (FiveAD)
A pre-cursor to the NB Miata, the only 1998 Miata in existence.
Although this concept came out after the NB Miata was introduced as a production car.

Would I like some retro cues? Yes, but I'll take "Fast Cavalier" over this all day long.

Can't find the sedan, but BOY HOWDY the Solara looks nice and Sebringish

Looks like someone flattened it.

You must have an '05-'06 GTO then. The Ram Air VI concept came out in '04 because no one cared about the new GTO and they were trying to drum up interest. "Look! Spend a dealer marked up $45k on our car, spend another 30k in accessories, power adders, and bodywork, and it'll look like this!" That being said, I wish my '04 looked like the Ram Air VI.

Front and rear bumpers are the only main differences I can spot.
![]() 04/09/2015 at 16:09 |

You could say that again
![]() 04/09/2015 at 16:31 |

I don't think mine had a concept, I think GM just showed up to the auto shows one day and said "here's the new Yukon."
![]() 04/09/2015 at 17:31 |
|
There wasn't really a concept for the 8P A3, but they did show this prototype at Geneva, in 2003.
Be
Also, there wasn't really a concept for the second generation Equinox, but there was this, "fresh," and, "youthful," concept for the first generation. Best of all, it was called the, "Equinox Xtreme."
There also wasn't a Trailblazer concept, but they did make this interesting twin-turbo inline-six concept, that was the precursor to the Trailblazer SS. I think they should've stuck with this, rather than the LS2.

No concept car versions of the A32 Maxima/I30 :(
![]() 04/09/2015 at 17:55 |

Did you know that there was a second RX-8 concept car?
![]() 04/09/2015 at 18:03 |
|
Even the concept looked cheap and undesirable.
![]() 04/09/2015 at 18:36 |

This was the original 350Z concept that I think of. It was in Gran Turismo 3.
Very similar to the production version, but i'm sure you can spot a few differences, around the grill, the door handle, mirrors..etc.

Gorgeous car.
The production version, not the concept.
![]() 04/09/2015 at 19:58 |

The concept looked much sleeker and I'm glad they changed the trunk operation, otherwise they kept the best parts.

The one I posted was from before that. They were going back to calling it a 240, they tried to make it a bit of a throwback but failed all the way around and completely reworked it.
![]() 04/10/2015 at 03:19 |
|
Yeah, i remember that one, now that you mention it. Took you calling it a 240 to really jog my memory though! I had a subscription to Car and Driver at the time, and I always read every issue cover to cover, so the knowledge was in there, but I didn't immediately recognize it straight from the photo.
