I limited myself to three cars attainable for a small amount of money and they are: A mint condition 850 T5 SW in black on black for carrying stuff, a 78 XJ6 with a wooden steering wheel for leather-gloved sunday driving and a trusty ML320 for off-roading and long trips (I really wanted this to be a P38 but that will demand a lot in maintenance).

Here is my cheapskate (Under £5000 for everything) ultimate garage.
FWD, RWD, AWD, Hatch, Saloon, Coupe, Rotary, V, Inline are all covered.

Heh, that's about the same as my ideal low-cost garage. Already got the 850 station wagon (which, as the high-performance 850 R model, is absolutely hilarious), I adore the Series III and earlier XJ6, and I really can't disagree with the Merc as a sensible choice for as an offroader (although if reliability weren't a concern, an early Range Rover would be a contender, too). You, sir, are a man of impeccable taste.

Done, I fixed it, an early Rangie would be perfect but reliability is a concern in this imaginary reality haha. I wish I could fit a Citroen in there, maybe an XM.

Can you really get an RX8 that cheap?

Heh, I hear you. I do love the XM, too. Nearly bought one a few years back, but ended up with a Xantia instead. Loved it to bits, but there's something about French luxury models that really appeals.

This is a good list. I've always loved old Jaguars, especially series 1 XJ's mostly because they don't have rubber bumpers.

I'm two thirds of the way to mine! And if I don't by a third, I can keep that pretty lady standing in front of the U-Haul trailer.
