Anyone want to see a video of my Peugeot 505 STi's Econoscope in full operation? Good, because I made one. I fixed the vacuum diaphragm with a scrap of old inner tube under the current one, and she is good as new. Just a small part of the process of getting EVERYthing working again. I fixed all the dash lights the other day as well.

it is kind of like the vacuum MPG gauge in 80's BMW's, to tell you when you are driving most economically

Does it work by responding to changes in engine vacuum (or lack thereof)?

Most economy gauges are just a refaced vacuum sensor/gauge. Much like how non wideband "AFR" gauges are usually nothing more than a voltmeter/light show.

Excellent. Now you can be sure that you're driving with the red light on as much as possible.

Cool. I've never had the opportunity to take something like that apart, so I was making an educated guess. Glad to see that book learnin' paid off!

gives you a rough idea of how much fuel you're using by measuring manifold vacuum (and by consequence, providing a rough approximation of engine load). Lots of 80's cars had these...

look over on the far right...

Econoscope. Loved this name.

Better than Fiat's Econometer.

I haven't had a ticket is so long. Til about 2 weeks ago. Cop was cool about it. He asked me to get out and we walked back to his car and he told me he was going to recommend I go to court on it. Just trust him it is gonna work out good for you. He was right. Went to arraignment and they dismissed the ticket if I don't get any other violations for 90 days. No fine, points or anything. So we sat there for about 10 more minutes talking about his 2015 Charger patrol car he just got.
