Sir, the bloat appears to have been localized to a small area on the hood. It may be possible to operate.

Muscle weighs more than fat.

I see you removed the Roundel for added lightness.

Thats actually not too bad.

Walked out to the car one day and noticed it was missing. Have a new one in the mail actually

It was a simpler time.
No heavy and complicated Bluetooth, just a 6 discs CD changer in the trunk.

It really isn't

I could use some more muscle. This 3.0 V8 leaves a bit to be desired.

I think it only weight 200 pounds more, with twice the power

Don't be surprised if it goes missing again.. Back when I had a '98 540i some dickhead would constantly steal the roundel off the trunk (could see the screwdriver marks). After a few times I just didn't bother replacing it anymore.

Wait, does that say nav system?! In what model year?

I would have thought the 3.0 was peppy.

Kudos to BMW!

Need two of those. The big ones.

It loves to rev but doesn't seem to move the car with much urgency. I really don't care enough to do anything about it though; this car is purely a beater.

This was the point of my post. The new car isn't all that much larger.
![]() 04/07/2015 at 16:15 |

I dunno. That's actually quite a bit longer and wider.
Not saying it's a bad thing though because you can just get the 3 series now if you want a car that's similar in size to an E28 5 series. So essentially everyone got a price discount. You can get a 5 series for 3 series money, a 7 series for 5 series money, and a Rolls Royce for 7 series money.

Except the prices have all gone up accordingly as well ;)

I'd like to see a comparison of the interior space. It probably isn't much bigger on the 15.
![]() 04/07/2015 at 18:37 |

Yes but also no! Based on what I've read car prices have not kept up with inflation. So we're effectively getting two discounts - cars are cheaper in relative terms than they were in the 80s and we get the larger model for the smaller model price.
The one area where we all have to be careful is options. There are way more options now than there were before. And that's how they get us.
If I ever buy a new car I'm going to custom order it with nothing other than heated seats and the premium stereo. I don't really care about anything else.

Yep, BMW is a killer when it comes to the options. Why the FUCK does leather cost $1500 extra on a 335i? That shit should be standard. For that matter, heated seats should be standard as well.
![]() 04/07/2015 at 20:45 |

Yeah it sucks! Leather should at least be standard on the 3 series and up. I can kind of see them not including it on the 1 series in Europe and the 1 and 2 series here. But the 3 Series is marketed as a full on luxury sedan so it should have leather standard and a no cost option for cloth or fake leather for vegans.
The only thing that makes BMW's option pricing look like a downright bargain is Porsche option pricing, haha

250 shot at least
