We've reported all along that, yes, on the face of things, there will not be a next-generation !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! or !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! —but only because !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , and the replacements for the ATS and CTS will follow this new naming scheme. This does not mean that Cadillac is abandoning the small and mid-size sports-sedan markets—that would be incongruent with the company's !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . A conversation with Cadillac confirmed the foregoing, but we also now understand those cars' replacements will undergo slight changes.
Again, the replacements for the ATS and CTS—which will pluck from the CT3, CT4, and CT5 badges—may change in size and positioning to accommodate the new CT6 full-size luxury sedan, as well as the widely rumored front-drive, sub-ATS compact. Today's ATS is smaller and tighter inside than the segment benchmark, the BMW 3-series, so regardless of whether or not a new front-drive Cadillac were to join the party, it would make sense for the ATS's CT-branded replacement to grow slightly larger.

Cadillac just released the "CT6" and said that this will be the last generation of the "ATS" and "CTS".
What were they going to make instead? Airplanes? Toilet paper? Gluten-free steel cut oats?!

I'm really not sure why people were freaking out over this. They said they're changing the names of everything already and we all new the CT6 was going to kill the XTS.
