Allroad with the 4.2 V8.
My driveway is looking pretty strong.

Awesome! Take good care of her and she'll hit 300k.

Yay!!!! I'm so excited for you! Also, that's the weirdest place for a front plate ever. Heh. *waves hello to Matt's Evo and Allroad*
^_^

The AllRoad definitely looks cooler than a bonfire of cash, but the effect is the same.

Pros: 1. 4.2L V8
2. Qauttro AWD
3. "Superior Interior"
Cons: 1. AirBag Suspension
2. AirBag Suspension
3. AirBag Suspension
Jokes aside, V8 wagoning is usually a winning combo. Fingers crossed on the suspension, careful not to look at it the wrong way.

an Evo eh? What made you take that over an STi? Mistu preference or just liked it better
Subie fan asking an honest question, no harm meant by the question.

Love it! Are the wheels stock? They look like the wheels on my A4.

Needs more finger.

I think they are? They've got Audi center caps at the least.
Not sure, I'm the third owner.

Drove both, enjoyed the Evo's drive more.
I did think the STi was a better DD candidate though, especially as the hatch. Even the new one as a sedan-only is arguably more practical and comfortable than the Evo.

That's understandable, I occasionally drive regular Impreza and I quite enjoy it, never had the chance to drive a Lancer. I'd love to do a comparison between and STi and Evo.

he didn tell you, but the air ride was done 20K miles ago

Done as in replaced? Or done as in broken? Could be either I suppose. I wonder what the average lifespan of one of those particular air ride systems is.

At least since it's not the 2.7T it'll be hopefully less of a money pit. (I was briefly tempted by one with the 2.7T for a winter car but fortunately thought better of it.)

That's definitely a plus. It's a sweet wagon. It's notoriety is unfortunate. The 4.2 is probably another dodged bullet, since the twin-turbo version had an additional set of issues.

yea, we all know that./
weirdly, my dad knows a guy who bought on (used with 23k km). The single most reliable car dude ever owned. not a single thing went wrong on it.
granted the guy was also BIG on maintenance.
He got something like 450K km out of it. it was absurd

The owners that were shelling out money hand over fist on repairs have that guy to blame! He got all the reliability. I'm sure there are tons of examples that fared just fine. The ones that didn't, word spread like wildfire. People seem to tell everyone they know if they have a bad experience with a VW/Audi.

we.
so far ours has been just fine. we love it. (A3 TDI)

Mine have been just fine too, save a few waterpumps.

You just got yourself an awesome car.

Good luck to you mate!

From my semi-limited experience, the 4.2 is a reliable motor.
Awesome car, I really hope there are no suspension/electronic problems in your future.

The air springs were all replaced. The compressor is a bit on the slow side so I imagine I'll need to fuck with it eventually, but it works on all four levels for now, and no lights or anything.

I have no firsthand experience with the thing. I only know about it from years on VAG forums, but sounds like you got one with an issue taken care of for the time being.
