Engine temp?

Coolant temp. Basically, if it goes into the red, your engine is overheating.

Water temperature. An oil temp gauge will either have "OIL" or a thermometer in a oil symbol.

So it's coolant temp. Thanks to all.

How does one like cars and not know what a coolant temperature gauge is?

Young with a new car? I heartily suggest you read your owner's manual cover to cover.
Scratch that: Everyone read your owner's manual cover to cover.

oh, hey, I was looking for you-
Please don't rev your engine in your garage. I saw you said yesterday you were in your garage when revving. Don't do that, you will actually die. Not looking for excuses, or for you to explain yourself. Just don't do it, it would be a real bummer if you died, especially so young.
Thanks.

The garage door was open. I'm almost paranoid about making sure that it doesn't run with the door closed.
