...and an understanding of driving dynamic. In that respect, Cadillac has an advantage over its Japanese competitors." - Johan de Nysschen
Really? Come on Johan. The original Lexus LS keept the people at Mercedes awake at night. The LFA is nominated as one of the best cars ever, by various automotive journalists and enthusiasts , the original RX, along with the Mercedes ML, created the luxury crossover segment. When was the last time when a Cadillac did any of that? That heritage you talk about are land yachts that Europeans joke about, the British call them yank tanks , and it's not a compliment.
Infiniti, you've been there, you know Don Carlos will do just about anything to turn a profit. And the alliance of Nissan-Renault with Daimler, means that Infiniti has access to just about any technology it desires, from the vast technological pool of the alliance.
And Acura, sure its global expansion got cancelled by the carpocalypse, but you don't have a supercar to throw at the blistering NSX(presuming they bring it to the market this year).

With regards to heritage, they have an advantage over all but one of their European rivals.

If you put it that way, half of the french motor industry has an advantage over Cadillac.

not in Europe they don't, No one over here lusts after a Cadillac and the casual car buyer probably couldn't name a memorable Cadillac.
Sadly, that's the way it is.

Personaly I think its hilarious that the Euros look down and joke about us.
Everyones good at different things, and sometimes the roles swap.

Yes they can: "that pink finned convertible boat from the 1950s". Or maybe the black Mafia limos from the 1960s-1980s you saw in movies. That's not really naming though.

It's only about the cars and, frankly, the cars the US produced until a few years ago weren't that great overall.
