After standing in the rain for 40 minutes waiting for a bus this morning I finally vetoed the family's current financial priorities and have declared we're getting the second car sooner rather than later. I was browsing, and I found this.

Belgium. This is a temporary bus stop 200 yards from the normal bus stop so no shelter or anything.

Nice finds. They all look very tempting to me. Luckily I'm currently satisfied with current fleet.

The Citroën is really promising but a cheap ID is very likely to make you try to fix it in the rain when it decides to quit. And it has to have some rust issues for that price.

But if you would restore it into a nice condition it would keep its value really well.

As a 205 GTI owner myself: that 205 GTI looks nasty. Mostly due to the questionable modifications. It does come with an original grille, so at least there's that. The seller is right though, there aren't that many left any more.

Given that you're including the Netherlands in your search, try this site and click on 'uitgebreid zoeken' for the expanded search. At 'afstand' (distance) you can fill in a Dutch postal code and you can choose to change 'alle afstanden' (all distances) into a range surrounding that postal code. Use '6199AA' as a postal code for the Maastricht area.

yeah, I hate public transit for that whole waiting in the elements reason. If it takes me an hour to drive to work, it takes 1 hour door to door. Public transit might take 45 minutes to get to work, but I will spend 10 minutes walking to said station, waiting 20 minutes outside in unknown condtions, a good 10 minutes of delay (more often than not), and another 10 minutes walking to my final destination. Making that trip 1.5 hours door to door. Which in my opinion just sucks ass lol. And that is assuming you have some sort of effective public transit that goes in the general right direction.

So an engine rebuild is mandatory. It seems the engine uses separate liners so even severe wear in cylinder doesn't destroy the block. It can valve issue too.

But welding can be really costly.

As far as 205 GTIs go that's the polar opposite. The seller does note that the head gasket of the transplanted (from a 306 GTI) engine is leaking coolant, even though the engine has supposedly 80k km on it (the body 298k km).

Interesting site though, I should check it out.
