I'm guessing, since the Si starts at $24k, the Type-R (yippee!!!!!) will start at $28k-29k. How guess you?

At least $30k.

Probably gonna be something like $29,995 so they can say "LESS THAN $30,000!!!!"

$32,764.
If I'm right down to the exact dollar, you're gonna buy me one as a reward, okay?

Sure, I'll buy it for you, except it will be mine.

It's real unfortunate that we're living in a small performance car renaissance right now for Honda. Otherwise, they maybe could have gotten away with a 35k MSRP on the R. FF fanbois would have easily paid a premium to get a genuine R badge.
But given the times we live in, a FWD R needs to not break $30k if they want to see volume with it. AWD will obviously change the calculus there, but I'm not counting on them to deliver that.

FWD has always been Honda's shtick. Considering what they did with the Prelude, I have high hopes for the Type-R's handling.

A: that had better be a 3-door hatch. A trunk lid that small is laughable, no matter how much real-estate is open behind that tiny opening.
B: If this were to actually get SH-AWD, it might get REAL INTERESTING.
FWD = no care, and turbocharged FWD cars SUCK for torque steer and lack of grip.
With SH-AWD, Type R goes head to head with Focus RS, and WRX STI.

Is cool I guess. We need to both get our respective hot hatches, you in this and me in the FoRS at meet at the Tail of the dragon with some other hot hatch rep/driver for a series of challenges.

We can get jkm760 in the Golf R!

I'd say they would price it slightly under the WRX STi. So about $30k starting. And with it being a Honda, fully optioned it will top out at $35k. Add $1,000 for the four door, and $1749 for the hatch, $2k if it's a five door.
What I'm curious about though is whether this is the pre-production version or pure concept. How much are they going to change this styling when it hits showrooms later this year? Can't be too much. I seriously hope not much. Also, a VTEC decal needs to be included with every purchase. Hell, throw in the F&F box set too.

I have high hopes for the appearance.
This is the concept.

As Clarkson would put it:
"Drift mode vs. VTEC vs. mein fuhrer."

I came here to mention your A point. A lift back Civic would be like a CRX revival. CRX Type-R?

The UK price was announced at 29,995 pounds. Due to how these things are normally priced, I'd say $29,995 is a good guess.

That's what my current guess is right now, because, y'know, "UNDER $30,000!!"

Lol, we need to call it "Third Gear" because that will probably be the best sounding gear in the RS and Type R
