I think I would rather have a Brubaker Box. Especially if it were upgraded slightly with finishing advancements made since the 1970s. And maybe glass wrapped up to the roof, and a long canvas sliding sunroof, and more windows on the sides, to avoid the horrible blind spot effect.

I think there is a lot of potential here.

Maybe a bit...

But there are some seriously upgraded VW engines...

And where a VW engine fits, a Porsche air-cooled engine likely fits, too.

And with a bit of planning, water cooling can be fitted, and then there is a wide range of Subaru water-cooled boxers that could be fitted, even up to SVX's 3.3L H-6.

I would LOVE to see one with a VW Synchro or Porsche Carrera 4 style AWD system, too.
