I'm spending the night in the hospital after an emergency appendectomy. The doctor just told me that I am not allowed to drive a manual transmission for two weeks to allow my internal wounds to heal. SUCKS.

man I wouldn't drive at all for 2-4 weeks. If anything is going to open them up it'll be an emergency stop. That's what the doc said when I had mine out a couple years ago.
Also you're probably on some kick-arse pain meds too right?
Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Thanks man. Yeah, you are probably right. I took two Percocet a couple hours ago. They had me on morphine earlier. It's the first time taking either of them.

Hospitals suck especially when you're too sick/not recovered enough to leave but not bad off enough to need a morphine drip.
Hope you're out of there soon. And although you'll be reflexively trying to press a clutch pedal that isn't there for the next 2 weeks, look on the bright side: at least you live in an age where paddle shifted SMG gearboxes are a thing. Maybe you have a friend that drives a BMW you can guilt into loaning you his car for a couple of weeks.

ask the attending surgeon to confirm thats correct. usually you can drive as long as no narcotic pain meds.

it's correct. I have many internal dissolveable stitches that they are trying to prevent from popping.

That's weird. When I had my appendectomy 15 years ago, they still let me drive a stick. I did have to drive my parents' F-150 instead of my Prizm because the seating position was uncomfortable, though.
