I have come to the conclusion that Camaros are for cruising, not racing.

This based on my driving a 2014 Camaro SS at the LA Autoshow, and the '67 350 I'm driving cross country with my parents. Both horrible visibility, feel extremely heavy, deep, smooth engine note, and accelerate surprisingly slow. If anyone wants to change my opinion, they're more than welcome to let me drive a Z/28 or ZL1.

Well, it is a pony car and not a sports car.

Really? Hmmm, I'm used to '80s Toyotas and an '06 Mazda 3 tho, curious to see how '80s Camaro compares. I live in Long Beach, CA, but I'll be in Long Island/the tri-state area Wednesday - Saturday. And in Burke, VA tomorrow afternoon & overnight.

'14 Camaro I drove right after driving the CTS-V so I admit I my perception might have been a little bit skewed, but the '67 just isn't very fast. Granted I haven't driven any other cars of the era to compare it to, and it's carrying about 500 extra pounds of people and luggage, but it's not what I expected. I believe that even with only a driver in the car, it wouldn't be that much faster. As it is now, I'm pretty sure it's unable to burn rubber at all (at least not with the automatic). When getting onto the freeway, I have to floor it for the whole onramp to barely get up to 60 or 70. It does however have very adequate power and linear power delivery, which I love, and I love the analog throttle and instant throttle response.

Glad you have the opportunity to see just what mid 60's cars were like. They were not a drivers car.

no shit it's from 1967, even "fast" cars were pretty slow compared to today standards

The thing is even the '14 I drove was pretty sluggish. It felt slow & lumbering, compared to the Mustang Ecoboost I drove which felt surprisingly lithe & fast.

sorry man i'm in the charlotte area and probably wont be leaving any time soon. i can say that it doesn't "feel" as light and tight as some of those cars may. it definitely feels heavy with its all steel body and big v8 right on the front wheels, but it can absolutely take just about any on or off ramp without any braking. and because of the terribly uncomfortable seats you can feel every movement of the rear axle in your ass and the throttle feel in the pedal is astounding. the higher trim models with the 13:1 ratio steering box have incredible steering feel in the wheel and on the roads back home (ohio mountains) it sure did feel at home. i actually learned to drive in a v6/t-5 firebird and absolutely nothing has ever felt as good in a corner as that car. the gm 60* v6 wasnt exactly perfect however it was perfectly balanced and incredibly smooth. and even though these cars are heavy (mines about 3600 lbs and a ttop car with an auto and an all iron v8) slow (195hp 5.0 liter v8) and floppy (rumors of subframe flexing never experienced it myself) they sure do feel like sports cars. and not smogged out 80s muscle cars, checkout some lateral g numbers for thirdgens, add that in with their aerodynamic numbers and they're on par with alot of modern cars that have insanely more power

No problem, it's the thought that counts! Sounds like a fun car, glad you enjoy it. If I'm ever in Charlotte maybe I'll find you!
